Personally I would have chosen Nintendo Revolution instead of the Wii U.Really though. They couldn't have a picked a lazier name haha. Even Wii2 would be better haha. I don't think Nintendo's going to go bankrupt soon, either. Although they might not always have the best selling systems, they produce quality hardware that makes the most of their hardware. I mean, the DS was a boon for so many games because you were able to reduce so much clutter by having two screens. The ability to simultaneously input commands on both screens, or just having the ability to touch the screen and press buttons at the same time laid way for extremely high quality games such as The World Ends With You and Knights in The Nightmare that would have been next to impossible to do on any other portable at the time.
Smash 4 is still up in the air as to whether it will be deemed good. It is great that Sakurai finally hears us as a community, and honestly you can't expect such a transition from purely casual to somewhat competitive to be flawless or even modern, really. As purely casual games, and as a game in general, the Smash Bros. series has been high quality and packed with content. Most likely it will get sales regardless of what we think, but for the series to get more sales and to draw more players in, competitive appeal needs to be there as well. So this title is trying to start that, and has done many things to ease its way into our community. It's not a perfect transition, but really it can only get better from here. It's a possibility that Nintendo can use Smash to pave the way for other games that will be fiercely competitive, but that's just a thought
Yea "Wii U" is an awful name. Half the people I talk to haven't heard of it, and the other half think it's an upgraded Wii as opposed to an entirely new system. The name is very misleading and confusing to casual people.Personally I would have chosen Nintendo Revolution instead of the Wii U.
Smash's future is Nintendo's future... sort of.Aren't we going off topic here? This thread isn't about Nintendo's future...
For now it is. I think it's kind of funny the Wii U is relying on SSB4 to bring it up.Smash's future is Nintendo's future... sort of.
Smash's perceived shortcomings are subjective, and depend on your tastes, while they are objective in case of Nintendo.Honest question here, why be more forgiving of Smash's shortcomings than Nintendo's?
I just think someone could make a very similar case to fully support the company using the same type of fan logic (they're playing more to their base, they work hard, we have to support them). I wouldn't say every decision the company has made is strictly positive or negative either.Smash's perceived shortcomings are subjective, and depend on your tastes, while they are objective in case of Nintendo.
In other words, any decision Nintendo makes has only one outcome, either positive or negative. Can't say that for Smash.
I'm not an investor in Nintendo. Their revenue matters far less to me as a consumer.Still, the is only one outcome, financially speaking. It's either a profit or a loss in the end.
My post will be ignored because I'm swearing? My ****ing god ************ let this video educate you misterDid I say that? I said that his opinion will be ignored because hes posting to much of this >"****".

I highly doubt Nintendo will stop making consoles becuase one failed. The gamecube didn't sell too well, yet they still made the Wii, which sold the most out of that generation. The other 2 consoles do not add anything but graphics, which will lead to their downfall imo. I still love my PS4 though =/
I agree entirely. FOR THE CSS ANIMATIONZ!!Hello readers, victinivcreate1 here. Many of you posters know me as one of the main pessimistic posters in these boards.
Now lets put our differences aside, because there is something that casual/intermediate/hardcore 64, Melee, Brawl, Project M,and Smash Flash fans need to know.
Notice the changes that Sakurai has made to the game in attempt to cater to its hardcore audience, and how Nintendo is responding to competitive Smash.
Now look what he's done for the casual audience!
- 1080p graphics, 60 frames per second.
- Gamecube controller adapter so Melee/Brawl players don't have to change.
- Hitstun return, making combos existent, and comeback potential is possible.
- Balance being focused on, and Sakurai now has Bandai Namco helping him out too.
- The Invitiational tournament, inviting top players from Melee and Brawl like EG PPMD, Curse Hungrybox
(says C9 Mango lolololol)and CT ZeRo, and getting the famed commentators D1, Progducto and MIOM Scar. It had 175,000 viewers. 175,000 freaking viewers. This beat out EVO 2013's SSBM viewer records of 137,000.- A good online system, one mode catered just to competitive Smashers.
- Every stage has a competitive version of it, so we can also enjoy SSB4's soundtrack.
- Nintendo SUPPORTING EVO 2014 for Super Smash Brothers. Melee. One year ago they tried to SHUT IT DOWN.
- More wacky, fun stages.
- New characters from some of the Wii and DS's most popular series
- More items that look fun to use too.
- Vibrant, wild looking colors. Its a nice popping effect.
- Online mode catered just to you guys.
- New single player mode on 3DS!
- 3DS Smash in GENERAL.
- Awesome reveal trailers that generate hype.
Nintendo and Sakurai have worked hard to try and make this the best game they could. We have to support this game. Because in 6 years or so, Smash 5 will be coming. And many of the things they saw that worked in 4 will likely carry over to Smash 5. We, as the most devoted fans to this game must show our gratefulness and love for this game. We must get it into the big tournies like EVO, MLG, APEX, CEO, etc, and we MUST make sure that this game gets 400-500 entrants at these type of tournies on AVERAGE. Because if Nintendo sees this, they'll know they're doing something right. This must be the go to party game.
Now Smash 4 may not be the greatest competitive or casual game. But if we support it and show Nintendo at the same time how to correct its shortcomings, Smash 5 could be the greatest Smash game to date, and even potentially outlive Melee.
Think about it, if we supported Smash 4 enough, Smash 5 could have
Now tell me this wouldn't unite the community. And the best part about this, is that this could actually happen. But thats only if we just put aside our differences when the game comes out and we supported the hell out of it.
- Every item in the previous Smash games PLUS more
- More stages, and all the old stages from before
- The return of loved competitive mechanics like dash dancing, wavedashing, DACUS, turn cancelling, moonwalking, B-Reversals, and added more mechanics that were just as meaningful as these, so you could literally have complete control over your character
- A 60-65 character roster featuring the new/old popular characters such asX pokemon, X Fire Emblem Character, etc, with tons of moveset variety, and alternate costumes as well. Each character could also have their own CSS animation,as a throwback for 64 fans.
- Stronger online modes, less lag, and a with options, and the ability to host tournies right online.
I've seen you in other threads and while you make valid points, you kinda give off this air that you're above everyone.I love how people here are getting pissed that other posters are asking them to either support the game, or politely stop *****ing about a game that they have no power over changing. It's like they're angry that someone dared to ask them to be civil, instead of turning this into another hatefest like Brawl was, and still is.
If we don't do anything, they'll repeat it i, f we do something, they won't, simple as that.I love how people here are getting pissed that other posters are asking them to either support the game, or politely stop *****ing about a game that they have no power over changing. It's like they're angry that someone dared to ask them to be civil, instead of turning this into another hatefest like Brawl was, and still is.
I have to agree. This smash game is the last straw for me in the series. I don't think that when smash 5 cones out ill be as interested. Ill be pretty old then and getting good at videogames will be a lot tougher. Or generally not something I probably will get far in.Um, yeah. I have no intention of supporting Smash IV if it turns out to be bad. Sorry. And there is meaningful purpose in that. If you blindly support Nintendo's efforts to create poor content, they'll keep creating poor content. Unfortunately the only way I see the Smash series going in a competitively healthy direction is by us being stern with what we want, and not supporting/buying otherwise.
To be fair, one can be civil whilst hating something. Discussion can revolve around constructive criticism.I love how people here are getting pissed that other posters are asking them to either support the game, or politely stop *****ing about a game that they have no power over changing. It's like they're angry that someone dared to ask them to be civil, instead of turning this into another hatefest like Brawl was, and still is.
Are you not technically invested in the series, at the very least. I mean, the only reason we even have Smash 4 is because of the critical (financial) success which directly correlates to revenue. I understand that their profit/loss ratio is negligible in most respects; however, I guarantee that in a hypothetical scenario, one of two things will happen: If the game is not successful (not well supported), Nintendo will hesitate to make another; if the game is very successful (well supported), Nintendo will jump at the opportunity to make another sequel. So in the most simple of ways, it is relevant to most consumers that enjoy what Nintendo has to offer, namely Smash.I'm not an investor in Nintendo. Their revenue matters far less to me as a consumer.
My point was Nintendo's revenue numbers do not change my outlook on their products. Are you not technically invested in the series, at the very least. I mean, the only reason we even have Smash 4 is because of the critical (financial) success which directly correlates to revenue.
Nah, the problem is the meaning in the words, which I can't be bothered to go through anyway. My post will be ignored because I'm swearing? My ****ing god mother****er let this video educate you mister

My dad's 40 and he's pretty good at games.I have to agree. This smash game is the last straw for me in the series. I don't think that when smash 5 cones out ill be as interested.
