Well I noticed that the quicker you press the button at the start usualy has to do with it.

u just keep practicing, in the beggining u wont jump a lot, but until u got some time practicing it u wont never increase the distance of the jump, remember, dont leave the movestick down, just move it when u press B the first time.

Is there any way to measure the distance you are going by how much you tap?
What I mean is, I want to know if I have gone the maximum distance or maybe halfway, how would I know so?

Don't go slow to fast. You'll just lose some vertical distance by falling then rising tiny then lag falling. Start fast. Takes practice :p

If you want to see the maximum distance you can go, go into training mode, put speed on the lowest you can, then use the rising tornado.

Start up a training regimen for your hand and fingers. I have some sites that could help you to that end, but I'm unsure of what Smashboards' policy is on that sort of thing.

I find that it helps to think more of pulling your thumb off of the B button quickly than trying to hit the button hard or quickly. The latter usually ends with your thumb spending too much time on the button.

Also, don't limit the process of tapping the button to just your thumb muscles. I've gotten good results by involving my thumb, wrist and forearm muscles. It kind of looks like I'm shaking my hand over the controller, pivoting on a couple of my knuckles that are on the side of the controller.

Ultimately, the way you do this is up to you, but hopefully these tips helped.

Smashing the button? I dunno about you guys but I have to pace myself when tapping B. If I go as fast as I do with Mario, I end up falling instead. I guess when you go over the limit, it backfires.

Okay, there are two reasons that might be happening:
1. You're not releasing enough from the B button. If you use the 'rapid thumb twitching' technique, you might be holding down the button a little.
2. You're pressing it so fast it doesn't recognize you taking your finger off. That would mean tapping faster than 30 frames/second. The reason this happens is that if you press B on one frame, then B on the next frame, it will think you're holding it down, even if you released it between frames.

Not really rise, it's more of a side-to-side motion. See, cyclones move more horizontally, while tornadoes stay in place, but are higher and taller in stature. Thus, you get Mario and Luigi's unique down b's.

Well I'm glad that I can tap pretty fast now, but now I'm having a bit of trouble doing the second jump, or up B afterwards.

How soon can you react after the tornado? Because I probably don't after my tapping like mad phase

eh... if you press down b and while tapping hold the control stick up, you can use your up b after the tornado finishes if you keep tapping, but for second jump... you just have to be quick as soon as luigi does his final hit.

Please be sparing with the Rising tornado. Remember that if you jump to the edge you get another jump. You can use it to trick you opponent and jump when they miss their ledgeguard attempt.
