"Smashball appears in the match too commonly"

Yeah, I've seen this rumor quite a few times. Wasn't it confirmed that the Smash ball appears in the item switch?

In that case, you can set items appearance for "very high, high, medium, low, very low."

For the competitive players, you could always turn off all items BUT the smash ball, and have the items set at "Very low".

Do you think this would work?

I wish they would let you set the rarity of each individual item.

Say I want tons of Pokeballs, very few Home Run Bats, and a decent amount of Hammers, for example.

It would fix the whole debate on how often Final Smashes should be, no?

It did. So if I wanted ALL items off BUT the Smash ball, and have the items set on "Very low", wouldn't that mean that the smash ball has a low chance of appearing?

This is something that will be important to learn apon its release.

Im pretty sure that Brawl Central said it had a item switch and you could turn them off.
If it works the same as in Melee it will still give out boxes and capsules. I should know, I tried a match with nothing but the Blast Barrels in Melee. Those things are rare as it is, and making it by themselves only makes a lot of Barrels and Capsules appear before a Blast Barrel appears.

So while just Smash Balls at very low would make them appear less frequently, in Tournaments they don't want to deal with boxes, therefore it can't be done.

Exactly. If you turn only the barrel cannon on, the game will actually give you EMPTY CONTAINERS for a really long time, even though the only item you chose is the cannon. There is a rarity element that is hidden in melee

We still have no idea how Smash Balls can be controlled. In E4All you would usually see one or two in a 2 minute match, which is a little much for a 1v1.

if you're just going off the demo, you would probably notice items spawning every 10 sec. The Demo is not the game, the Demo probably was showing off items for people and placing the spawn rate for items on high including the smash ball, don't assume that it will be appearing all the time like that.
