Smash WiiU & 3DS director Masahiro Sakurai says "Pic of the day. Here's a new mini-game that's quite a bit different from Coin Launcher in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It's called Trophy Rush! The details…will be kept secret for now."

Typical Sakurai.

Thank god. Coin launcher was really tedious and boring. This already looks a million times better just by virtue of the fact that it seems to involve using your actual character in a trophy gathering mini-game. Another really nice little touch that will go a long way when it's all added together.

I hope they tell you when you've obtained all possible trophies you can from this mini-game... when it came to coin launcher I wasn't sure whether or not I should keep playing or if I had already gotten all of the trophies. Melee's lottery mode made it pretty clear when it told me I had 0% chance of getting a new trophy.

Coin Launcher was repetitive after you've burned about 3000 coins due to the trophies usually being the same. I find Mii's useful for this new gamemode if we players have to cross terrain, so we can make our fighters suitable for trophy hunting! Also, trophies are fun to read and look back on some history.

I wonder if this is 3DS only. Maybe WII U will have a different way to obtain trophies. Nonetheless, this looks way better than coin launcher.

Coin launcher was kinda easy... i had those trophies in no time... i'm more curious about if this is also going to be the trophy game for Wii U.
Sakurai, why no details? This is not something that has to be secret until launch or something...

DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!
STAY ONTOPIC!

Well that would probably be attributed to the fact that it... isn't Coin Launcher... This is like when they tweeted about how Mii Fighters and Palutena were different from the rest of the cast, or when they talked about how the recolors looked different from the default skins...

What i really wanna know is whatsup with the single player mode
There isn't any, or at least there won't be anything like the one in Brawl because Sakurai is upset that we showed everyone his scribbles on the internet where he was rightfully laughed at for pretending to make an engaging story.

Oh I thought this was Smash Run again at first. New mode looks neat, I wonder if the Wii U version will have this, something new, or Coin Launcher again.

It was more that people were rewarded for their efforts with a cutscene that could be found on the internet for all to see. He wanted to make the single player experience individual to the player.

Yeah, I know, but I like my version better. Besides, who plays video games for cutscenes?

I don't get the picture, everything looks so odd and puzzling. "The details…will be kept secret for now." So... we will have another Direct?

So there's a wrench icon there.
Perhaps if you pick that up, you get a Character-Customization Piece?

Anybody who plays the Metal Gear Solid series? (Dang, that's two Snake references from me in the same thread now, what gives?)

Now that the story is gone, I wonder if Stickers will return?

This kind of looks like Break the Targets, the Wrench Block must mean something.

I saw this in the 3DS SSB4 trailer (along with a lot of other things like something that looked like an Adventure Mode kind of thing), I was curious about it. It looks really fun, though.

I liked Coin Launcher. It was MUCH less disappointing than Masterpieces.

But yeah, knowing when I can't get any more new stickers/trophies would've saved me a lot of time.

I don't know why, but I thought that even Melee's Lottery was better than Brawl's Coin Launcher.

the WiiU better get some modes also because the 3ds version is looking pretty stacked; mainly jealous of smash run

Hey, more gamemodes are always okay with me. Go ahead, Sakurai, stack on the hours it will take me to 100% the game. I will still do it all, mwahahaha.

But actually, more game modes the better. It shows that you can do many more things than just throw yourselves in a ring and fight. I remember in 64, I would go through classic mode almost specifically for the board the platforms and break the targets sections sometimes. The little minigames mixed in make the game more interesting.

Also, hoping these are not all 3DS exclusives.
