Smash tips for a n00b?

Alright, so this probably sounds pretty stupid and uber n00bish, but I'm still pretty horrible at general smash playing. I really enjoy Captain Falcon, and he's my best character at this point. So I was wondering if there were some quick general tips I could get/things to learn to boost my general smashing, because at this point I'm getting 4 stocked by most of the kids that are pretty skilled smashers.

Any links/vids/quick posts work really.

There's a pretty big wealth of info on the forums. Watch some falcon vids on youtube, read the forums, esp. before posting Welcome to the boards, good choice of main and good place for a first post General advice, learn to shffl and Lag-Cancel (L cancel) before anything heh. Oh and get comfortable with C-stick for aerials.

Good players to look for would be Darkrain, Scar, Silent Spectre, and Hax. Just search on youtube for matches with any of them in it. So I'm going to keep writing here as opposed to just giving you the youtube link because I realized it after I started typing. You can stop reading now. I'm literally just filling space. I don't think I'm going to give you any more good Falcon tips beyond this point, so you should probably stop now. The body is in the vault in the cellar. You stopped reading, right?

Humor is alright but its kinda annoying when someone is serious about something and they want help....

he made a thread that is mostly unanswerable. It's impossible to pull from the countless tips and tricks and pieces of info a falcon player needs to know. Threads like this aren't very useful. He shouldn't ask for general tips unless he has a video, which we can then correct, or if he has specific questions, like advice on certain matchups or combos.

In summary, you can't just make a thread called "teach me how to play falcon". That's what guides are there for. Read those, and when you have specific questions or want a video analyzed, post. ie, the first response literally said welcome, watch videos, learn to l-cancel, etc. Which applies to all characters, not just falcon. Perhaps the only actual bit of advice was proverbs telling him which players to look for when watching videos, but that's about it.

I have lots of players in my area who are trying to learn smash, and they know basics like l-canceling and stuff, but they want help playing the character. So i play them and give them running commentary on what they're doing right and wrong, etc. That's helpful. It's why a video is helpful. You can't give advice to someone without knowing what they need help with.
