Smash Shop ??

Will there be a place to buy and sell items?
a huge store with hundreds of unlockables?
sounds like a good idea. so i hope there is one.

what if you could unlock costume changes?
like ness as lucas's costume change?
or doctor mario for mario?
theres a lot of questions and debate that will arrive if they did confirm a shop.

do you think that a brawl shop would be a good idea?

they coud put tons of stuff, theres so many ideas!

I have to say, this is a rather cool idea. Browse around or something, if Master Hand isn't in the game, have a cameo appearance as the cursor or something too.

This thread gets +10 cool points for originality.

Plus, you could get like....a preview of what you're buying before hand.
All in all, nice Idea. :D

Wow...love the idea! I had actually thought of something along those lines a while back...it kind of reminds me of Soul Calibur...wasn't there a shop in one of those games?

But yeah, you could buy alt costumes, items, stages, maybe even pay to challenge a hidden character...it might work

I'd rather not have this option in Brawl. I prefer the old ways of unlocking things in Smash other than buying it with points. Could lead to you having to do a lot of repeat classic modes to just get points.

I like the Idea a lot, Get coins by having great fights, go to the store and buy Stickers, Alternate Attires and Such.

I really do want to know more about the alternate attires a Lot.

You know, come to think of it...it would basically be an enhanced version of the trophy lottery from Melee, if you think about it. Only difference is, you can choose what you're buying, instead of paying for a random trophy.

I agree. Hours of hours on being force to go through a mode just to get points would be annying.

Yeah I agree, I think a combination of the two ways would work best.

Yeah! If Brawl were to be online, then it would be fun to have alternate costumes or maybe customizable costumes(nothing big but like choose your own shade of color of each part of costume and maybe choose a custom icon like halo?). Different pokeballs would be cool too.

A combination of shoppage and good ol' Melee-style unlockables would be good, and possibly, having to do things in the game to open an unlockable in the shop. (unlocking an unlock for purchase)

i thought about this when i saw the stickers update. but yeah , im not saying every unlockable would have to be bought. just like half of em. and the rest will be done old fashioned.
im very optiistic that this game will be HUGE.

I think it would be better if you could only buy minigames, stickers, ATs and movies. But not attacks. That would make the game confusing. And characters and alt costumes should be unlockables. Unlockables are what keep you playing the game. If there weren't any, the game might become boring.
But maybe just 1 character could be buyable but for lots of points.

Oh and how about accessories for the characters like shirts, shoes etc.
Every character can have its own set of accessories and when you go to the shop you choose the character and then the accessorie you wanna buy. Does that sound good?

I really like this idea. Maybe even sweeten the deal with minigames like remakes of some levels from NES mario, wario ware games, things like that.

Alternate costumes like all 2d versions of characters would be awesome and easy for them to do.

It would be better if they started you with like 80 percent of the items, then you unlock/buy the other 20 percent. I dont think you should start with like no items and have to buy them all. You should start with most of the items.

Characters also apply to that except you should be able to unlock more than you can buy. That way it takes more skill to get more characters instead of just lots of play time to get more characters.

well, getting money shouldnt be so easy. so i think it will dd a flavor to this game, so that every1 feels unique. accesories would be cool to.
then you can play your custom character online

dixie for an alternative for diddy.
any character they couldnt get in but is really similar for sum1 else you should buy.
maybe using coins awarded through beating modes or a certain playing time.
i dont see any downsides to a smash shop

This is what i was thinking of posting, then i found it...wow
Anyway i think the shop would be a good place to spend all those useless coins you got after unlocking all the lottery trophies, you could buy new items for characters, (like bomb arrows for link) also alternate costumes and basically new moves, (like TMs for pokemon)
To make it more interesting money is based on the character you are playing as so that to upgrade characters you need to play as a char from that universe.
Example : playing as link earns you rupees, while playing as pikachu earns you pokedollars

I personally think that part would get complicated but it could make things more fun.
Just a couple of suggestions on my part, I'll be back with new ideas

I do like the shop idea, but it's definatly unoriginal. I think that most people respond to ideas like this by saying "I'd rather they just put more time and effort into the normal versus mode, and make it the best they can" And in some way I agree with both arguments.

Maybe Nintendo could add like 5 more items into the shop every month via wi-fi? Then the game would last FOREVER!!!!!!!! New stage every month ftw? Also they could use this to slowly increase the character roster if there are complaints about the non-inclusion of characters. AND it could keep up to date with new games that come out so it doesnt feel outdated (like in melee: F-Zero GX made CF's character design seem old; Sunshine made ALL the Mario stuff seem old...). Oh and I agree that the old coin system should be used from melee's lottery so that coins are easy to get.

I wouldn't mind there being a shop in Brawl. I like the idea of all characters but one being unlockable through traditional Smash means, but I think things like stickers, alternate costumes, maybe even cutscenes from Subspace Emissary in a movie player option should be available for purchase. Maybe Assist Trophies too.

But character unlocking needs to stay as it is, IMHO. I love hearing that alarm go off and seeing that "WARNING: CHALLENGER APPROACHING!!" flashing across the screen.
