If Nintendo did this, and you had to use REAL MONEY, I'd hate them for life. But if you got the money/points/whatever by playing, I'd be happy :)

i think the idea was referring to the coin system they use to buy trophies in the lottery =]

If there will be a Smash Shop, then who is going to be the store clerk? Perhaps Happy Mask Salesman, Tom Nook, or Tales Miles Prower?

using wifi internet to bring in new items to the shop every few months is a great idea. this game could really last.
every character but 1 or 2 should be unlocked traditionally.
buying movie clips is also great idea.

as for the shop owner,
i think tom nook should sell a few modes and stages, along with some stickers and music. ,

professoer e gadd in a different screen could sell items and character accessories/alt costumes

and maybe crazy hand could sell everything else that you wouldnt have to unlock traditionaly

i think each character has 6 costumes,
4 color changes, 1 is the alt costume. (like daisy for peach, or meta ridley for ridly,.... which u have to buy at the smash shop =]) and 1 that you customise for online play using accesories bought. =]

this game is already really original, adding a shop wouldnt take that away..

Nahh, that'd completely change his character and they'd have to take time to program more Pokemon for him. Just let him stick with Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard and let the Pokemon unlock alternate costumes.

Will there be a place to buy and sell items?
a huge store with hundreds of unlockables?
sounds like a good idea. so i hope there is one.

what if you could unlock costume changes?
like ness as lucas's costume change?
or doctor mario for mario?
theres a lot of questions and debate that will arrive if they did confirm a shop.

do you think that a brawl shop would be a good idea?
Lucas isn't in the game, it'd be the other way around.
anyways, if you're talking about using coins (kind of like SSBM's lottery) then 21/10 if you're talking about real money, then -1590/10.

and I also disapprove of the Dr. Mario one, since I want all the old characters to return.

you dont want to state your point like that, some people might think your arrogant i mistakenly do it ll the time though. start off with a 'i think' or a 'imo'
well those were just examples and the main point is about a shop.
but doctor mario will most likely just be an alternate costume. every character will most likely have 1.
dr mario, yoshi, CF, and Falco are my main characters.
but its most likely not going to be good 4 us dr mario supporters.
beyond your (and my) personal wishes for him, realistically he probobly wont be playable.
but as for lucas, characters are appearing as they have in thier latest game, lucas stars mother 3, one of the most anticipated games in japan in 06. ness as a costume change wont hurt that bad, if u wanna play ness then pick him. imo
those were just examples of alts i think you can buy with a smash shop just as original wario instead of his warioware.

this should evovle into a debate about a smash shop, instead of what alternate costumes you would want, save that 4 its respective thread=

Not so sure of this one...
Just something I'd like to add on how alot of people think that characters shouldn't have purchases that alter attacks in any way, or different attack sets for that matter.

Well I say phooey to you!

Simply because of that fact that an ability to customize the way you can play a character, it becomes unpredictable or at least less predictable meaning that online matches would be more based on a players own skill and not on predicting the enemy's moves. I'm not saying that all matches are this way now, in fact more matches are based on player skill than predictability of an opponent, but I have seen more than a few marth and roy players who win entirely on counters. Now you may be saying that the opponent shouldn't have been so predictable, well thats not the case, trust me.

Other people disagree with modifying attacks because it would unbalance the game, well the developers do try to balance out moves before the game is released. Even if things become out of whack then the wii network can change all that.

Thats all for now folks! If there are holes in my theory please let me know, I'd like to fix them thanks

i see what your saying. by having the wii network they can edit the characters. and fix balancing issues. and have customizable moves, which would be revolutionary. that would be cool. and people who think this wont work should not doubt the developers.

I'd rather play the old way of unlocking things; I'll probably have all the characters unlocked by the second or third day, anyway.

When I first saw this, I thought you meant like an online spot on Wii Shop where we could download characters, items, ATs and stages.

I don't really like thins idea at all.

However, to the people suggesting minigames: Why don't we just rename the Wii the 'Super Awesome Mario PartyBox Deluxe' while we're at it? There's enough minigames floating around there (Mario Party 8, Rayman, Sonic SR, etc., etc.) as it is.

your trying to say that there are too many minigames? wat about target test ? that was fun, so brawl should have some new 1s too.

I really like this idea and i think it is likely that a shop will be implemented in brawl.

Most characters would be unlocked normaly by playing the game actuallly.
Only 1 or 2 should be available through the shop.

The trophy lottery could be added in the shop like a gumball machine in small RL-Shops.

Some purchasable things should be unlocked in the game first.

And you could buy alternative costumes like many suggested.
Dr. Mario anyone?

And considering the recent Mario FLUDD update I think you could even modify characters or buy different moves or slightly different effects for moves like fire arrows for Link or pills for Dr. Mario which would only be usable in the Dr. Mario dress.

The connection I see to the FLUDD update is that it seems that the Mario with FLUDD is allready an altered Mario:
It would be odd when Mario had to pull it out everytime he uses his down+b.
No other move (in any Smash) looked so weird how it would appear.

And what supports my idea is that Mario looks like just standing neutral on the first screenshot off the FLUDD update. And if he just stands there it is even on his back when he doenst uses his down+b.

You could probably choose whether you want to play with Mariotornado or FLUDD etc. on the chararacter selection screen.
Could be done by a little menu you open with a button or which just opens after confirming the character choice with "A".

Convincing? :chuckle:

I think Tom Nook should lead the shop. If you´ve everything in his shop you can buy Tom Nook as a fighter for 9999coins.....
It would be cool.

My suggestions for alt costumes:
Mario - Dr. Mario
Luigi - (This special outfit... it´s called Mr. L or something like that)
Peach - Daisy
Link - This one with this mask.... and this sword
Zelda - TP Shadow-World dress
Kirby - Deedle Waddle Dees (These stupid enemies who looks like Kirby) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/63/InhalingKirby.jpg
Ness/Lucas - Ness/Lucas
Samus - Dark Samus
WW-Wario - Normal Wario
Jiggs - Iggs
C. Falcon - Blood Falcon
Pikachu - Pachirisu/Pichu (wow....)
C. Olimar - Louie
Marth/Ike - Roy
Ridley - Meta Ridley
Fox - Wolf (if he isn´t already in)
Yoshi - Boshi
PT - Female PT
to be continued

You should also buy stickers/trophies, alt music, sound test..., new AT/Pokemons, stages, mini games, new settings for VS-Mode etc..
_
And sry for my grammar. >_> I already know it´s really bad.

Britain, glaring at you **** yanks.
Awesome!

Maybe in the style of vending machines, expanding on the slot machine style of last time. You earn the coins in battle, like last time, and you put in the number of the item you want to buy. There could be like a row of alternate costumes that change your actual character ( Dark Samus, D Mario etc) then a row of stickers, which you would get in packs of 10, then a row of stages, then 2 unlockable characters ( which would be the most expensive), and other crap too. Sounds good to me.

Personally, i like this idea. I have 999 coins for nothing in my game right now, and if there was a Smash Shop, I'd splurge like that little girl inside me always wanted to, but the man outside didn't.

Strawberries...

yeah. a radical idea for the fludd update is that alot of characters have an alternative smash move set. pressing say R&L at the same time changes there smash moves. liike luigi would use the vaacum, link would change weapons, fox would use a staff (if no crystal) or ganondorf would take out sword. like mortal kombat. and you could buy each.

that wont happen though.

What would you all say if a shop was confirmed in the next update??
