Hey guys! I had an idea for a ranked mode called Smash League, and I wanted to share if this was a good idea, and get your guys opinions on it

- - - - -

Welcome to the Smash League! Whether you are the Competitive Casual or the Ultimate Fighter, the Smash League will put you to the test to see if you deserve to be at the top.

When you start, you'll be given a test to see how much you know about Ultimate. The test is Cruel and Endless Smash. You'll be facing 1v1 with an AI, always a random pick. Pick your best three fighters, and see how well you do. The higher your score, the more likely you'll be ranked at the top.

However, its a little different. You'll be facing the entire roster of characters, all at random (even Mii Fighters). Becareful, though, there are no items. Just three characters of your choosing. Everything else remains the same, as if you were in a normal Smash Battle.

When you finish, you'll recieve your rank, and you'll do your best to reach to the top. The ranks are:

Competitive Casual - These type of fighters aren't looking to reach the top, BUT do want to have a competitive battle. Lots of fighters hang around here if they want to have a casual, yet competitive battle. Almost like playing with a friend. This Smash symbol is a light blue ball, with no lines dashed through it. This rank can be an option to visit if you want to kick back for a battle.

Underling - These fighters absolutely failed the Smash Test, falling down to the bottom of the ranks. These players have no knowledge of Smash Ultimate. Until they get the bases down, they aren't going anywhere. This smash symbol is special, with a wooden style, but no lines dashed across.

Rookie - These fighters are looking to rank up, however, they are at the bottom. They didn't do well on the Smash test, but they plan to improve and get better. They aren't as knowledged on the techniques of Smash Ultimate, and will stay in this rank till they improve. This Smash symbol is a yellow ball with one vertical dash.

Fighter - The average fighter in Smash Ultimate. They have the knowledge, but not enough to rank up higher. They did decently in the Smash Test, and most of the SmashBase stands in this area. This is a regular Smash Ball symbol painted Green.

Gladiator - A league above Fighter, these fighters did well on the Smash Test, and this is highest the Test will allow you to be on. These fighters have extreme knowledge about Smash Ultimate, and know which fighter to pick before a fight. While they are good, they are only slighty above average than the rest of the fighters. This Smash Symbol is purple, with three lines dashed through the Smash Symbol, going through the cross.

Champion - This can not be earned through the Smash Test. Congrats! You're better than even the best of players! But your ride does not end here. These fighters are Tourney worthy. They have the footwork of professionals, and have knowledge of most of the fighters. Able to punish effectively and bounce back from being hit without slowing down. This Smash symbol is dark blue, with 4 lines dashed from the cross.

Ultimate Fighter - This cannot be earned through the Smash Test. You are the best of the best in your region. You have proven that you are no mere Smash Fighter. These types of fighters have knowledge of ALL fighters, not letting a single guard down. They seem almost untouchable, seem to be able to punish effectively without taking any damage. They can predict and take action before the opponent can finish their move. This lobby has a dark grey background, with the regular, black smash symbol. However, this smash symbol glows with white fire behind it, symbolising you are the ultimate fighter. These players also earn a new character background that can be used online or offline, even if they lose the rank. Unlike the colored backgrounds, this character background has a black background that glows with white fire behind the character of your choosing. A reward for proving you are the absolute best.

There are rules to getting to the top. To do this...

1) Once you have earned your rank, you can only challenge those in your rank in a 1v1 battle. To get to the top, you must beat your opponents in a battle, and win Smash Points. Smash Points determine where you land, and how you rank up. Every player has the right to deny a fight, but only 10 fights per week. If you refuse more than that, you'll earn the "Fighters Curse", and slowly lose your Smash Points bit by bit for every time you deny a fight beyond the limit.

2) Smash Points are a way ofndeterming where you stand. 0-1000 is Underling. Rookie is 1000-2000. Fighter is 2000-4000. Gladiator is 4000-5000, Champion is 5000-6000, 6000-7000 Smash Points is Ultimate Fighter.

3) In every rank (except for Competitive Casual), the rank will have a top, and bottom portion called Zones. If you're at the very top of your rank, your in the Acension Zone (A-zone), but if you're at the bottom, you're in the Danger Zone (D-Zone). If you're in the Acension Zone, you can challenge someone in the Danger Zone of the next rank. If you're in the Danger Zone, someone of the Acension Zone below you can steal your place, and force you to derank. Stay away from the Danger Zone.

4) Those who are in Ultimate Fighter have it differently. Being in UF is a Danger Zone in itself, as everyone has a button called Ultimate Fighter Challenge (UFC). This button can only be used once every 2 months, but Ultimate Fighters have the right to deny up to 50 fights per month, before being forced to participate. If they exceed the limit, and continue to deny fights, they will be punished harshly, either nearly, or entirely being deranked from Ultimate Fighter. UF's can only challenge other UF's of their region, unless someone below challenges to a UFC. If you lose a UFC, you will be deranked to whomever you lost that rank too. For example, if an Ultimaye Fighter lost to an Underling, the Ultimate Fighter will be deranked to Underling status, and the Underling will be the Ultimate Fighter. So on, and so forth.

Good luck, Smash Fighters, and be the Ultimate Fighter!!

Forced participation in a match is a bad idea.
Also a ranked mode would shake up the meta.
But otherwise I think this is a cool idea.

Eh. It sounds like a nice spin on Global Smash Power.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeh, sorry but that's a terrible idea. Basing your rank on fights against CPU opponents makes no sense whatsoever for a player vs player competitive mode. Fighting the CPU takes an extremely different kind of skill than fighting a human player, and the rank would never be accurate. You can be a terrible player and still beat CPUs consistently, and you can be an amazing player and still have trouble fighting CPUs. With this system you're almost guaranteed to start in a rank you don't belong in.

Also what do you mean by "denying" a fight? Do you have to be online and willing to play 24/7 in case someone challenges you? Cause that really wouldn't work. At all. You should use your own time to play the game when you can, not rely on other's people's whims. And you have any idea how many fights a well-known player would have to deny compared to the average player? There's too many reasons why that wouldn't work. In the end, this mode wouldn't measure your skill level, but how good you're at fighting the AI, and how much free time you're willing to waste just in case you get a challenge.
