Awesome tournament! Yes, I'm still around. I have August off without school or work to take up all my time, so I'm happy to play whenever I'm free. Problem is, I still have occasional research meetings and publications to work on, so I STILL can't travel to the big tournaments. I think the last big tournament I went to was MLG NYC back in 2005 LOL.

I'm really glad a bunch of you guys were interested in the study! My study on competitive gaming will be published pretty soon, and once I've gotten a few publications under my belt I'm hoping to focus to do a study on the smash games as well. I'd really like to interview the top players in various games and figure out the common theme that makes them stand out. Is it work ethic like Malcolm Gladwell speculates? Or is it skills a player learns to develop? Even more key is the question as to whether or not these skills can transfer to other areas. If they can, we should be using the games to promote positive characteristics in society.

Shoutouts to everyone at the event! I don't want to give individual shoutouts since there were too many people to thank for making the event great, but there isn't a single smasher these days I dislike the company of. You guys continue to make this a great community, and I'll always appreciate it!

Thanks Oliver! It was some tough competition, so I was very happy I pulled it off. Hope you and all the other UCLA smashers are doing well!
