The assistant to the mayor of SimCity, Dr. Wright was actually named after the creator of the game. As a player, you’d have to use your wisdom and experience to give timely advice to the mayor; if you did a good job, the city prospered. Dr. Wright is one of the leaders in the all-time, bizarre Nintendo-game-hairstyle contest.

Before you start panicing, no, he’s not a new character, but a new Assist Trophy. He has a rather cool ability. In Sim City, what do you do? Make cities appear where their previously wasn’t any, which is his ability in Brawl. It looks rather useful, imo.

lol i was really enthusiastic about him being a character but it turns out hes an assist :(
why doesnt sakurai make the title Assist Trophy: Dr. Wright
maybe hes just messing with us lol

The way I figure, Assist Trophies are characters he made an honest effort to get into the game (except for Nintendogs). He tried to give them the moving and attacking animations of a full-fledged character, but just couldn’t think up a good enough moveset. It’s even possible that if Mr. Wright pulled through, that skyscraper thing was to be his Final Smash.

Kirby: good catch with Mr. Wright being under the item and not the character category, i was fooled for a second too, and i thought it was cool, but still hoping there was room for mega man…

By the by, would you say we could expect another smashcast at the end of e3? I really enjoyed the other three and have been looking for the next one, but i can understand if you’re waiting until after the expo.

Yeah, I remember Sakurai saying he wanted to put a few hidden gems in Brawl ( Characters more or less hidden in Ninten’s history). He might be one of them. I think with ATs more off the wall characters may make appearances like Lip and Stafy. This might also give chance for our favorite dancing agents to give appearance. Agents are GO!!!!

aww darn! i was hopeing it was the dr wright from megaman but i guess he can still make it through… oh and do you know who would make a good assist trophy? olmar and louie from pikmin! i mean sure they could be characters to but as you said sneaky if they cant think of enough moves for them then they can make them an assist trophy! they could through pikmin at all your enemies and then they would stick to them and beat them to death with there little stem things!

You know what’s strange about this screen-shot?… There is no one on stage that could have released Dr. Wright through the assist trophy…

That’s shown. 3 are affected and in the air, and the fourth who would be the user, is most likely on another platform of the stage.

Didnt they show in the video pits level falls apart…maybe that has something to do with where the owner of the trophy went

Yeah but the platforms once they get destroye are replaced by platform clouds. I hope they announce Eggplant Wizard for Brawl that would be sic. Dr. Wright looks kind of weird I was hoping for someone more famous like King Dedede or Slippy. Oh well.

Apparently they haven’t restored yet. Who else is wondering what died on Dr. Wright’s head. I’ve been going through my trophies in Melee and deciding which characters are the most likely to be Assist Trophies: Goo (Kirby Dreamland 2), Koopa, Baby Bowser, Tom Nook, Pikmin, Slippy, and Poo

I really hope ridley dosen’t become an assist trophy I mean Goroh (My player in f zero) was enough

I hope the buildings don’t go away immediately after Dr. Wright’s attack. It would be fun to try to negotiate around them while brawling for a short time after the initial damage is dealt.

They’re going to dissapear. It’s just an attack, I don’t think there’s a pokemon that changes the enviornment.

Seems like the Nintendo forums are relieved that Dr. Wright isn’t playable.
