3.0 is talking about the third social thread, here's a short explanation:

This site has a glitch when threads can get very weird passing the 2000 pages mark. Mods have resolved to simply do a split of the thread that has that (only exception is Rildey thread for other reasons, that was a special case).

What happened is the first thread eventually reached that mark so, to fit the split, the mod named the thread the social thread 2.0.

Then it sort of became a staple (not intended). 3.0, 4.0 and they made a joke about 4.1, because they were faking the squaqboard when it changed to 5.0.

Basically, one thread is 2000 pages and a bit more.

As you can see, lots of stuff was posted since this forum was created like 3 years ago :)

Im willing to bet Socials will continue to exist as long as there are people willing to go to them.

Whats funny is that 3.0, while it ended in a memefest (which was actually a celebration of its end more than anything), was also the time I was most... I guess you could say productive? Thats the time when I made text walls about my opinions on Smash-related topics and was generally more strict about my way of posting, but I got more relaxed as time went on. Funny stuff.

6.0 will get even more complaints than 4.0 because following our dear friend Logic, we could expect that version to be the Vista of the social threads. Very few people upgraded their hardware to run the alleged new Social Thread version's alpha release.

In today's 4chan something like that would be banned because of animal abuse. Of course, old 4chan housed a lot of depraved things, even worse than puppy blending(like that 4chan member literally streaming him killing himself on camera), but nowadays that won't fly anymore.

Well, he didn't exactly kill himself directly. He burnt down his room, and the stream ended with some fire fighters/SWAT team people(I can't remember which honestly). But based on the news reports later on, it was confirmed that he did indeed die. I know this because apparently the whole ordeal became a "meme", it was on KYM.

At least the deep web's in danger of being extinct...apparently the CIA keep a close eye on TOR now.
