Ok so this is what I have so far on the new Social Thread fanfiction

Takes place in the far future. Smashboard City is a huge futuristic metropolis of a central hub of the gaming world and Smash ability determines social status and therefore, power, both ingame and in the community. Regular 'Election' knockout tournaments are held by the elusive Warchamp, head administrator of the city, but it is rumored that none of the finalists to later become Mods ever managed to beat him.

Story follows a One Piece style narrative of a young man with a dream to be a top Smasher, joined on his quest by four or five other fighters whose motives just happen to overlap.

On their quest to reach notoriety and enter into the sacred guild known as the mysterious 'Back Room', the group is pitted against rival groups, gangs, elite level Premiums, and even the superhuman Mods to reach fame in their social hierarchy, each for their own reasons.

Takes inspiration from the site itself, One Piece, Gurren Lagann, TOME (Especially the Challenge of the Netkings arc), Smash Bros obviously, and small amounts of Kill la Kill.

Right now this is as far as I got in characters:
Myself, Flight, MainJPW, 2 or 3 more for main group.
FalKoopa and Red Royu are locks for Mod reps
Warchamp as the main opponent/nice guy antagonist (Basically Webmaster or a good version of the Spiral King)
Everything else, I'm open to suggestions.

Soul is a Pikachu joining the I don't know side.

Knock knock its Knuckles! A former Premium too lazy to keep his status that travels the world for the sake of exploring and bumps into main team randomly. Generally a comic relief character in almost everything except fighting, thats when the Premium part start to make sense.

Those MK8 features pretty much signaled the end of F-Zero to me. No point in making it if it's going to be just like Mario Kart. Who knows, it might make a comeback 110 years from now.

Whatever the Direct has, I'm not hoping for a character reveal. It will most likely be Splatoon and only Splatoon because muh Squids.

Yeah, he doesn't like F-Zero at all. Though he's not really... biased against Star Fox. I mean, there's only 6 Star Fox games, and 2 of them are remakes of the first game kinda.

And one of those remakes (Star Fox) suffered from Early Installment Wierdness since it was more like a tech demo (Think Pilotwings) and it's non canon to Star Fox 64 and future titles.

My worry with this new Star Fox is that they might start a completely new timeline and retcon everything that happened in previous titles. We all know how things went when the Toads were confirmed sexless and the Koopalings were never Bowser's children. Sometimes, retcons wouldn't really sit well with fans who were already used to the franchise at first only to be disappointed when something from the game's lore is considered non-canon or changed for the worst.

Honestly, with them keeping C. Falcon in each smash, and also with the F-Zero Tracks on MK8, I'm kinda guessing we'll be getting a F-Zero game soon. At least, I hope so.

Last year, they said something about having big news for the franchise in the future. I personally hope that means a brand new title for the Wii U with new features. Who else wouldn't want to see Tom Nook or the Alpacas in glorious HD?
