.....partially.Personally, I both agree and disagree. I do like Paper Mario ticker Star's music, but it really doesn't fit Paper Mario that well.
So yeah, back to the old style would be nice.
Nintendo has really been on a jazz high for the Mario series recently, haven't they?
Sticker Star, 3D World, and Mario Kart 8.
If you were on talking on sm3dworld and ESPECIALLY mk8....the jazz style is just awesome. There's an even balance of the instruments and they all lead to something so you get carried easilly.
SS however is just neither of these imo. I listened the ripped wav, the best quality you could get.....there's just an abuse of the trumpets....in a very bad way because it just never managed to fit imo. And I almost never got carried in most music (if not all) which made me question if it would be the equivalent or better if there was silence.
HOWEVER, this is interestingly NOT the case with the Paper Mario medley in ssb4. It's actually IMPROVED so much that I heavilly question why the SS ost isn't that good in the first place. Seriously, the theme in ssb4, it's good, way better than the original one.
The problem with Paper Mario is both versions lacks something the series lost with SS, simplicity. The simplicity of the sounds is a lot more present in first 3 games, yes, you have instruments, but the sounds themselves are so simple that the arrangement of them is just so easy to get in your head. I mean I was talking how the mkwii music in ssb4 got into my head.....you know why, the sounds are so damm simple to memorise them.
Now, saying this, this shows that the Rogeuport segment in ssb4 music felt a bit counterintuitive, but the brief part of the sounds still being there.....it did the job, I jsut question the use of the background noises.
I felt the exact same about superstar saga....and I honestly felt the same with the demo of dream team. The way I see is Paper Mario is JUST enough simple yet, packed with a lot of stuff while M&L is so simple it just appears to have been limited by it. I just don't feel impacted much when i played superstar saga.....Yeah, I left SPM off because I don't feel like it's RPG-ey enough. I'm playing through Dream Team bros now for the third time, and I like it - the battles are a big improvement, but I feel like it just gets repetitive, the M&L humour is lost, and the plot/script is very stagnant...
I'll have to give Partners in Time another go though. I don't know if I gave it a fair place on my list. I haven't played it in a veeeery long time.
....I wonder why I will ask this question but.....paper souls?
Top Kek
I remember when MLP did a parody of Paper Mario.
Also, when's Splatoon?
What parody exactly?
I seriously think I will regret to ask that.....
Btw, yes, spm can be considered a part of rpg, but also a part of platformer. They just both are tied together, but it is not solely one of them. SS.....that is honestly debatable.....
