got his wisdom teeth pulled. (and it's his B-day)
...What was it like? I hope it isn't painful...
The fillings I got a month back hurt, even though they put a needle with local anesthetic in...
I was shaking so much that the dentist couldn't finish all of them, so I only had a few fillings done.

What a coincidence. I got fillings about a month ago too, but they didn't hurt for me, and I also had the local anesthetic.
With the wisdom teeth, there was no pain during the actual operation. The most painful thing was them putting the IV with the sedative in, which just felt like a normal shot.
The dentist I went to doesn't do full anesthetics that knock you out, but rather do a sedative thing, which I mentioned above. It felt really weird, and was actually kinda cool. First they put this "sweeter" gas thing around my nose, that just made me tired. Then in combination with that, they put the IV in me, which was filled with a thing that apparently works with the gas to put you in this weird half-asleep state. It felt like there were two parts of my mind: one that felt really tired and woozy, and one that was self-aware and knew I was being drugged up which was causing me to be tired, but it was kind of hard to process thoughts, but it knew it was and was thinking about how it was hard to think. It was weird as hell, but cool. It was hard to talk because I felt so woozy, but I literally didn't feel anything. I didn't even know they put a local anesthetic in my gums until after the operation when I started processing actual thoughts again.
I'd saw you got nothing to worry about! It went fine for me. The real pain is afterwards, but pain killers and ice packs make it OK. I'm well enough to slouch around and go on an internet forum right now, so it's not "I feel like garbage and have to sleep" bad.
