I unlocked everyone the first day I got the game. Just spent like ~2 hours playing vs matches (need to play 120 to unlock everyone). Funny thing is, I spent like half of those matches online (which counts), and once I went back offline, one match after the other (they're short stocks + high knockback set = easier), I got "Challenger Approaching" screens. So I basically unlocked the last few characters all in a row lol.

Well, there's that, but glitches can occur, so tests will need to be repeated to confirm that.

It's 50 for Dark Pit and 80 for Ganondorf. Once you hit the 50 mark, it's Dark Pit's turn. I don't know if you lose against him and play another match to unlock him or not. Ganondorf only comes first if you play as Link or Zelda on Classic on 5.0 and above.
