I've noticed something.
If you and a friend are in the same house, just use Local.
If you use online it lags alot.
Best case of this is Animal Crossing New Leaf.

Online is great 1 vs. 1, but it's less peaches and rainbows when it's a free for all or teams. Shame, because that blemish is what's holding me back from playing other modes.

Haven't quite tried every character yet, but I have unlocked all of them. May as well give my initial impressions on who I've played so far.

Spoiler: came out A LOT LOT LOT longer than I expected

I am still awful at . For some reason. I just am. On the other hand, I am good at . Maybe because he's got the tornado and the rocket? I dunno. I also don't hate playing as so I guess it's probably the tornado that makes me like them both more than regular Mario. I also like the raw power that the good doctor had behind him. Surprisingly, despite having played in Melee and a bit in Brawl, I actually don't like this buffed version. I guess it's a thing - the character who everyone is saying is one of if not the best happens to be one of the ones I'm worst at. I'm still pretty bad at MK, btw. That hasn't changed from brawl. is fun but I'm bad at him. Maybe I'll just pick him up for casual play, but I'll hardly main him. is as good and fun as ever from what I've played of him: very likely candidate for one of my mains. Same goes for : fun AND powerful? Count me in! being viable is a breath of fresh air, but I can't say anything about since once again I'm still bad at her. I'm also not good at despite liking Link. is an interesting case: I played as him to unlock , but tipping is so much easier in this game than in previous games because all of his attacks has the zone appear more distinct, so you have a better idea of what to go for. As a result I'll probably end up playing Marth a lot more than Lucina. If I play either, that is: I'm not great at Marth regardless. is an interesting case: I liked him in Brawl, I like him here even without custom moves, but WITH custom moves? Well, one of his side-special customizations - it's called Close Combat, btw - just feels right. It might not seem like an improvement at first but it's so damn satisfying yet easy to land. Trying not to get used to it too much, but still, I approve of it. As I said above: is a prime candidate to possibly be one of my mains. as well: he's soooo goooood. He's as good, if not better than he was in Brawl from what I've seen and that's fine with me. I'm bad at. No other comment. on the other hand is REALLY satisfying. My game plan while playing him is "hit with flare blitz" and gosh that move is SO SATISFYING. Though for a flying type his recovery feels kind of garbage, almost as much as 's recovery if he didn't also have the extra jumps and fantastic horizontal recovery (flare blitz FTW). is also a potential main for me now, now that she's been buffed from "complete joke" status in Brawl. is SUPER FUN but I'm meh at him - expect that to be a recurring theme. Another recurring theme here is how I can't decide who to main: same goes for , one of my mains in Brawl who has been buffed immensely. I'm bad as. I like him, but I'm bad at him. ... hmm. I can't seem to do well as him. And yet at the same time I can never do well AGAINST him. Perhaps there's some hidden potential I'm not meeting. But I don't really like him too much right now. is an odd case: I SHOULD hate him, cause 1: I'm not good at , 2: He's a clone, 3: Sakurai bias, 4: he's a clone of a character I'm bad at, 5: I didn't even like him that much in KI:U. And yet, I just like him for some reason. Some reason I can't comprehend. But I find him... fun, I guess. I'm not even bad at him, like I am with . I dunno. is a character I picked up briefly to do target smash and home run contest, but in the matches I played I found him kind of meh. I don't find him fun, I'm not good as him either. Bit of a disappointment considering how he was one of my most wanted characters. and share a consensus here: I'd LOVE to be able to be good at them cause I find them fun, but I'm not good at them and other characters have a higher priority for me for maining. I'm not surprised that I'm not good at . I wasn't in Brawl, and he's mostly unchanged here. And I'm bad with all of but I'll use them in casual play, and I'm definitely trying to get good at for when I get a top hat. Then it's Layton time.

Sorry about all that wall of text. Just wanted to leave my thoughts here. Might write something similar for who I haven't played yet in the future, who knows.Disclaimer: The above isn't a proper tier list, just personal preference

BTW: if anyone wants to battle me go ahead and message me or something - could be fun, and I need to play against other players more before I can reach a good verdict on who to main.

So, after fully playing every character, I've come to a conclusion about who my three main uses will be.


Ironically, I favor Little Mac. He's really fun to play as, and nothing is more hype than hitting the KO punch. Not saying I don't use Lucario, but... :/
