So I got to play the full version of the Japanese version of Smash 3DS today, courtesy to @Valdens , and it was total awesome. Valdens is also a Platinum Nintendo Club member and gave me one of the codes for downloading the USA demo for Smash 3DS.

Game is just really smooth. Combos really are there. All the character I played had at least one aerial that had very low landing lag. Just sooooooo much fun.

Robin is really cool. Bronze sword has decent range to it and the Levin sword is just plain ridiculous in terms of range and knock-back. Arc Fire was really good, and it was fast, and is the easiest tome to break. Elwind is also fast and is rather hard to punish. All the levels of Thunder are good. His regular attacks are also pretty quick. Though Robin's actual movement is on the slow side. Really fun character and I see good things coming from Robin.

Shulk has ridiculous range with the Monado. His stance change is good. I found it best to go purple power and blue power when my opponent is at early precents, purple is best because it gives you easy combos and blue is good when you need to replenish purple and an extra boost of speed is always helpful, and then when you get your opponent to high percent switch to red for the greater knock back. Really fun.

Palutena is interesting. She has pretty fast movement but mostly sluggish attacks, except for the Smashes oddly enough. Definitely liked her feel though.

Wii Fit Trainer is also awesome. Soccer Ball was buffed and Sun Salutation is still a good projectile.

DHD was really interesting. From what I played of him he had good range and seemed to have a good combo game.

Koopalings are a bit weird. I'm not really sure how I feel about them yet.

Sheik is absolutely amazing. She's like a Melee character in all honesty. Definitely going to be a top tier I bet.

I'm still trying to get a handle on Megaman.

Villager was a lot more fun then I expected.

Mario's combo game was no joke.

Not too big on Link though.

Pikachu is also pretty fun as well.

It was just awesome.

Picking a main for smash 4 is going to be hard..... There are just a lot of good feeling characters. Going to be Project M all over again, and I am still trying to decide on a main for it. Sometimes it really sucks (not really) when the characters are just so well built you can't decide who to play.

Project M is still great. It has a lot of things Smash 4 doesn't, just as Smash 4 has a lot of things Project M doesn't have, which means there is great reason to keep playing it. I know I am going to work towards putting my focus towards both Project M and Smash 4 competitively.

Oh and 3 characters I forgot.

Peach is both buffed and nerfed. Turnip Pull really was slowed down and is really just risky to use now. New Uair pales in comparison to he old one. And they got rid of freaking Float Cancel. Despite that Dsmash is improved from Brawl, though still not as good as Melee's, and has better range. Bomber is fast and has more range. Fsmash is a legitimate kill option. And her combo game is pretty good. Still, lack of FC was a low blow.

DDD is weird now.... Fair is not top to bottom instead of bottom to up. Bair uses the hammer and is bottom to up. Dair is now an arc instead of a multi-hitting move. Ftilt now hits twice and has nerfed knock back. The aerial changes are cool. But why did they have to nerf a already bad move, why couldn't they have buffed it like in Project M.

Meta Knight is quite slower but still has good kill options. Honestly think they went the wrong way with him. I think they should have kept his speed almost the same and just nerf his kill power and get rid of transcendent priority. But eh. I think he might still be good.

My sort has an easier decision-making process. Link and Robin are literally the only characters who seem to possess my preferred play style, so I'll try out both extensively.

As a competitive player, I also like to have a back-up heavyweight. Probably going to be Charizard.

The only thing I've been disappointed about this whole time is the way they're doing this stupid demo.

I'm obsessed with the roster. I lost my mains, and still think it's near perfect.

So I played the demo pretty much all day and I'm really feeling it!!!! lol joking It was pretty confusing at first. Coming from playing Brawl ALOT and using Wiimote and nunchuck, its a pretty big learning curve for me. I kept playing to try and get used to it and im getting better and better. I'm really liking Mario, your basic fighter, feels much better. I also like villager but I dont think i'll stay with him that long but hes pretty fun. Mega man on the other hand I seem to be really good with.

I'm not sure if beating Lvl 9 CPU means anything but now I'm mostly winning like every match with Mega man. Earlier I thought Mega man wasn't going to be good, I was pretty terrible with him after a few matches today until I gave up. but then I decided to give him a try and learn some new tactics. It work for these surprisingly hard lvl 9 CPUs and now im winning most of the matches. I didn't want to give up on Mega man, like come on hes a guest, gotta make use of him like I did with sonic. I remember having trouble learning Sonic's many spin dashes and was not my main character, but decided to play him a bunch and learn his his moves and there you go, he became my main. Same deal with Pacman, I wanna main him too and he looks pretty good.

I guess if they do end up being my mains, then You guys could call me the 3rd party Mainer lol or not.

Now to I just need to test my skill on some actual players and hopefully my skills with mega man is good enough.

I have not lost ONCE with him. His recovery is borderline broken, and all of his moves are really good (especially his tilts and smashes). I'm thinking about picking him up when the full game comes out.

While I was playing the demo, I noticed something...

Why is both C and R misaligned for the normal sized character font!?
They're one pixel too tall!

Mario, Lucario, Greninja, Pikachu, Sonic....

And its not just those! Peach, Pikachu, Olimar and Pit's kerning is a mess!

You might not be able to notice this on a stream, video or maybe normal DS, but if you're playing the game in person on a 3DS XL, you probably will never be able to unsee this.

Here's a fun thing to try;
Face off against a Level 1 CPU on a FD Stage.
Just do nothing but walk and jump around.
Best results are with Level 1 Mega Man.
