Well Sonic and Snake wouldn't really need them since they were already announced before hand as special characters and were also indicated as such on the Box art itself. having them turn in ? marks would be kind of pointless since we know they are in the ? were to be spoiler safe measure for those who didn't unlock the whole cast.

I see what you mean, but now we have so many characters announced already who may as well be unlockable in the first five months of speculation.

There was an alleged leaked starting roster, but it looked too good to be true, so I think it's fake

Yeah, but I'm more worried about the entire third party lineup being starter characters is why I think it's screaming fake.

That leaked roster with all the 3rd parties as starters isn't fake. It's our starting roster. It was the one at the Japanese event too. Also Megaman, Pac Man and Sonic have all been seen in menus on the 3DS version. They're not unlockable.

I do not understand how characters already being revealed should be hidden away. Hell, why are we still doing the archaic unlockables in the first place? There is no surprise if everyone will know anyway.

The 3DS version seems kinda barren in terms on modes. Heres hoping WiiU does better (I want my Events and Break the Targets dawg)

Sketchpad is fun. I only have drawn Pokemon from memory on it though. it satisfies that weird "I want to draw" itch well enough, it's too bad I'm bad.

Its so fun. I just don't like the load times. Pretty lengthy.

I got to get to drawing some Pokemon. I drew Florges in the Pokemon community twice. Because the first one was really bad.

You do know there's a decent chance of someone getting the game a few days early right? So we might have to wait that long for an info dump. Not sure how much that will help with my "need" to play the game however.

Sadly, this. When playing Melee as a little girl, before I really found the internet, I loved that feeling of out of nowhere seeing the "challenger approaching" screen, as it was a total surprise to me at the time. Unlocking these characters was just really fun for me.

But now, unlocking them just isn't the same. There are no surprises because of the internet, and I suppose that's partially my fault. I should just avoid the internet, right?

I'm not saying that unlockables should be removed, just that it unfortunately isn't the same anymore. :/

I can relate to this. Unlocking Mewtwo in Melee was super hype.
I think unlockables should stay, though. Unlocking them is part of the fun, even when you've spoiled yourself.

Unlocks are for those that are still innocent to the internet or word of mouth, or would preserve themselves as such. Would that we could all know the joy of surprise at every unlock, yet many spoil themselves.

Damn dude. Well, it's best to look at the brighter sides of these things. Ghirahim might not be playable in Smash. But he is playable in Hyrule Warriors. I know it's not the same, but at least the character is getting some recognition.
