Ridiculously late, but you can change your name if you have Premium. That's the only requirement; one with premium can change their name regardless of whether they are Staff or not, but not the other way around.

I just watched gametrailers review for smash wii u and they spent a good portion complaining about online giving the game a 8.5 cuz of it....in my experience I only had lag once and it was the first day every other time its been flawless
