Oh hey, I learned stuff.
Apparently White Tanooki Mario can still one-shot enemies even if they're made of lava, so it's seeming to just that the lava death was a simple game mechanic.

Time to get @ MainJPW to help logic this out.

Hmm.. it seems so; it's tough to distinguish stuff like that from game mechanics, there's also stuff like gag feats which are played up for comedy like DK punching the moon. Are you taking into account any other power-ups and abilities?

Really? It was smooth sailing for me, but then again I killed a few enemies in the beginning that gave you tons of experience. What chapter are you on?
