I've considered emulation only for games that are either unavailable or hard to find legitimately (like old Japanese arcade games). But as of right now I don't emulate.

I've considered emulation only for games that are either unavailable or hard to find legitimately (like old Japanese arcade games)

I use emulation for that reason and also to play hacks, mostly of Sonic games. Lately I also use emulation to hack certain games, those of which I own a physical copy of.
