Here's my list:

Quote (Cave Story)
Steve (Minecraft)
Crash Bandicoot (Crash Bandicoot)
Shovel Knight (Shovel Knight)
Rayman (Rayman)

I hold the highest priority for Quote, because he's one of my most favorite protagonists of my most favorite game, and due to his utility would offer a very unique moveset. Steve is there mainly because he offers a wide arsenal as well, and I would love to see how they would represent him. That and Minecraft is an awesome game that I hope has some form of appearance in the future. Though I'm not open about him much, Crash, like Rayman, is part of my childhood, and the Crash games are still some of my favorite games. Shovel Knight is pretty much like Steve to me- he has a lot of moveset potential and is a favorite character of mine. Finally, Rayman is a part of my childhood, and his series was very fun to play through.

Honestly though, if Quote ever gets his chance, I will die happy.

Easily Professor Layton. He is my most wanted for Smash after all.

Other third parties that I'd love to see are Black Mage, Jin Kazama, Ragna the Bloodedge, or Noel Vermillion (yes, I'm one of the few people who wants to see some sort of BlazBlue representation in Smash even though it's very unlikely that it will happen).

I just got done cleaning up the cats' litter box. But I had quite simply the biggest scare ever while doing it. There was a damn wolf spider in it and I didn't realize it until after I picked up the box. I dropped it, and fell right on my bottom and I was sitting there like

watching that furry ******* skitter under the tub.

After it was gone I cleaned up the mess. The spider finally came out and y'all- I ain't never stomped on no spider so hard. I hate being scared- especially by spiders. I make it my goal to ensure whatever spooked me pays dearly.

So yeah, I'm wide awake now. Lol

I love Quest 64 but honestly he has no chance. If anything he'd be an assist and even that isn't very likely.

And I'm aware. He's a third party character from a dead franchise, and a company who got out of gaming. He wouldn't be an AT or even a Trophy, nor would it get music or anything. Why? Because THQ and Imagineer don't even acknowledge the series anymore. They barely did. Unless Nintendo or someone buys it, it doesn't matter. However, due to the copyright being up(as in they no longer hold it), they can put it on the VC with no issues. Imagineer, unless they bother to rebuy the copyright, basically can't get money for it. Only Nintendo at best, perhaps.

Cloud wasn't really "unlikely" unless being from Square Enix makes you unlikely. A lot of people forgot what the 3rd party rules really were. You didn't have to be close to Nintendo as is. You didn't need to have a Nintendo appearance either(it'd be nice, of course). You had to originate in a video game. You have to bring something unique to the table.

Really, at best a lot of people thought he wasn't voted for often due to fan-rules. When it reality he was pretty popular as a choice(Sakurai adding him in due to people's own votes. Not specifically the ballot, but in general. He was highly requested). Having a tie with Nintendo didn't really matter, although it's pretty clear it can affect the content. Note how little FFVII got compared to Bayonetta. If the company themselves are on great terms with Nintendo, it's easy to get more content. SE isn't bad with them, but FFVII in itself is pretty much nonexistent on Nintendo itself(some characters cameo or are playable in some spin-offs/Kingdom Hearts, but that's it).

I felt Cloud had a really good chance after properly researching the official 3rd party rules. He wasn't my personal choice, but I saw him as an obvious rpg character choice. He is Mr. RPG. Just like Ryu is Mr. Fighting.

There's that too, but the fact that there's yet to be an FFVII game on a Nintendo system makes it even harder, since it hasn't "been there before", meaning that it's more special. Thus, that's a good reason for SE to keep the price tag higher, since it's more coveted. Supply and demand type thing and all.

You might notice that every single Sonic song has had a Nintendo appearance(bar Sonic's victory theme, but 06 was one of the more focused games at the time), and the 06 instrumental main theme was intended for a Nintendo release as is. But for various reasons, didn't happen(likely due to the Wii's less power. 06 clearly was a game with a lot of tech behind it, regardless of the quality and such, which is legitimately low testing-wise. But I don't go heavily into that).

I do think FFVII having zero Nintendo appearances was a likely factor. I'm not sure if any of the music besides the two themes that Smash got actually showed up at all in the various FF spin-offs and KH. Maybe One Winged Angel might've during Sephiroth's appearances?

Nah, he's not. Which isn't a bad thing. It's not like Smash Bros has to have the most iconic characters ever. Melee claims to have only Nintendo All-Stars, and I'm pretty sure less than half are actually All-Stars. I just don't think Sony cares about Toro enough to bring them to the masses outside Japan.

Although he was in PSABR and SFxT, so maybe.
