Why is it that every time there's a question regarding video games on a quiz show the contestant get's it wrong?

I don't know but it is hilarious, once I saw a spanish quiz contest, where the last question was Pokémon related (what Pokémon is the main mascot of the franchise?), the contestant got the answer wrong (saying it was Jigglypuff) thus losing, the man proceeded to rant hard by saying; "Im a freaking physics teacher, why you ask me about some kiddie ****?" The host replied by saying the quiz includes popular culture stuff and the teacher should have been prepared for that.

I've seen someone incorrectly answer how many Mario Bros. there were. I've seen someone with a question asking which of the following is not a Pokemon. They put Jigglypuff instead of Megatron.

Eh, to those who are not very interested in video games as a media, it can sometimes come off as that. It's kinda like in those "Name every Smash character in the roster of Smash 4". It's obvious the people who are answering the questions are rather clueless about the topic. It's easy to avoid the subject and information on it as a whole if you are not interested in them, as the only exposure video games get outside of certain websites or news are things like "Violent video games cause bad things in children", which does not cast a good light.

As far as most people are concerned really. Diddy's just a character really good at his core, unless you drasitcally overhaul him he's always going to be decently powerful.

They're not new really. They've been around since 2005, but they're Canadian so they're super popular here but not really known outside of Canada.

C'mon this is being a little too pessimistic. If we're talking about parents then, you think with how many kids play Pokemon and CoD and stuff that the parents won't eventually pick up on a few things? Also given that these kids need parents anyways to buy video games suggests that a lot of parents don't actually view them negatively(or else they wouldn't buy it for their kids), so at the very least they are just indifferent, or only care for the really violent/sexual ones and in some cases the amount of time the children spend on it. 'Course some ban video games altogether but not all do that.

And of course, there's mobile games, which have a pretty far reach now. Maybe they won't know the new Smash Bros. character or will disapprove of the new gun-toting M-rated game, but if we're going "video games" as a whole, some have probably even played a few. I mean, I don't think Mario games are thought of in a bad light(....not speaking on context of hardcore gamers here), but they're pretty well known.

That's pretty true actually, didn't think about that. Good thoughts there.
My only thing is some parents do not look at what their children buy/play unless they are careful. But that's true, so good work on forming that argument.

That being said, I do dislike CoD simply because it... brings such arguments to the table. It's not even the game itself, but the audience that messes it up, I think.

I enjoyed the World War II based Call of Duty games. They're largely responsible for making me interesting in WW2 as a whole and sowed the seeds of Яed Tyrant stuff I enjoy doing so much. So I won't call those games bad.

I did lose interest after CoD 4 though.

I liked it until everything after Modern Warfare 2.
Advanced Warfare was alright though and I honestly kinda hope Black Ops 3 will be good.

And this too. Anyone who doesn't think Zombies is a fun mode doesn't know what fun is, especially when you play it with a bunch of friends.

I agree. I'm not really interested in CoD in general, so I haven't given the series a shot. But with how talked about they are I'm reminded of them constantly. But it IS a game that's successful yet everyone hates, which makes it a helpful example in certain unrelated arguments :>

Discoveries I had with TF2

1) Only official mode I really like is kind of the hill. Payload and whatever the train one is are really sucky to be on the defending side
2) I hate being on the defending side. The exception being during kind of the hill
3) I hate snipers and spies

I dont hate CoD, I think they can be great games... but I hate what it did, inadvertedly, to gaming, and to people. Im getting Blops3, but scoff at the idea of ever engaging with the community in any meaningfull way. The most you can expect from me is spamming John Cena theme on the mic.
