Christ, my amiibos are tearing me apart and know I feel like I just can't play.

As I said yesterday I like consider myself a pretty good Smash player.
That said my lvl. 50 Luigi amiibo is a monster that cannot be tamed. It even showed signs of it's relentlessness at level 5 when it decided to go under Battlefield, edge to edge, even though I didn't teach it how to do that. Let me put some emphasis on that just to make sure everybody knows;

Thank you! I was planning on pulling out Marth but I decided to experiment with Pit and Dr. Mario. I'd say you're pretty good with all of the ones you used, but Toon Link and Sonic are your best ones. If you want a ranking:

At least, these are the characters I can remember you playing. You're really good, and your Toon Link might have been the best one I've seen! Keep up the good work!

Ok, done with repartitioning

Basically, all these 2 days spent on maintenances helped a lot on stuff.

The biggest improvement is my windows 10 virtual machine, it's miles better than before. having tested all 3 drives I had, there was a slight improvement on the faster hdd, but the SSD.....ok it might be slightly faster to virtually boot windows 10 than to physically boot my linux mint.....maybe because tbh, they were very similar. I timed my linux mint to take around 30 seconds from POST to desktop. The vm might be faster because some parts are faster when virtual. Like, loading an iso virtually is much faster than the phisical drive (I could use that though).

So, being able to boot windows inside linux under seconds sounds cool, but what exactly was the point to do this considering I wasted most of my weekend?

It's mostly accessibility. It's the same as my fear of rebooting before, it was so slow before that I would never reboot unless I HAVE to do it.

Booting my vm was the same, it was so slow to do it that I would just rather try to make wine work rather than messing with booting the vm and just wait cause it's so long to boot.

Now, I wouldn't even care to boot it. I noticed that even though I was allocating it 3gb of ram, that leaves around 2gb free so I could make it work with 2gb. Also, this is from a clean install.

But the biggest improvement was unexpectedly virtualbox, for some reasons, the newer version made itunes works and because it is possible for the vm to access your usb devices, it was so simple to have it recognised by the vm and use itunes......it's seriously just like I had physically booted into windows because it works so flawlessly.

That vm takes 60GB on my SSD, I kept a more than needed capacity for reasons like if I had to move big files such as uncompressed music or ripping stuff that takes a lot of gb. This leaves my SSD with 60GB free with OS and data that I already have.

As for my other drives, it went quite simple, but very long because messing with partition can take hours. my 7200rpm HDD was completely flushed to have one partition of ext4 (the linux filesystem, actually, I consider it superior to ntfs imo). This drive will contain data that I won';t use it as much as I woudl benefit from the SSD, but still uses from time to time. 250GB is big for these types of data.

And the big HDD, where I had my VERY old installation of linux mint from my laptop days, I might eventually flush it (iso and usb drives exists), but the problem is I have so much old data that I want to keep that I felt lazy and kept it there. However, my old Windows partition which I broke yesterday as well as the factory recovery partition (asus included this in the laptop drive) were flushed and I just used the linux mint partition and expanded it with the rest.

So, in the end:

• 190GB on my SSD for OS and data that I use a lot
• 60GB on my SSD for my windows 10 vm
• 250GB of data that I don;t use often, but from time to time
• 640GB of old data that I would store there where i rarely use it and before I flush my mint to have only one partition being ext4.

Btw, the reasons I think ext4 is just much better than ntfs is mostly file fragmentation.

ntfs would jsut take the first untaken space to store your file, very bad for fragmentation.

ext4 will try to leave some free space for the files to be spread across the drive. Essentially, you have to fill the drive A LOT to even notice any difference.

But this likely won;t bother for me because my os is on an ssd, it doesn't care about fragmentation.

So there you have it, I have probably the most flexible storage I could ever have. Seriously, I would be good for YEARS before i fill all my 1.1TB of mass storage.
