TL;DR:
- Wolf and Squirtle are returning.
- Squirtle has Rapid Spin as his down B and Rain Dance as his final Smash that heals him and his team mates. Wolf remains unchanged.
- Metal Mario as his own unique character.
- Mirror Mode that basically flips the stages around, 3DS version has mirrored versions of the Smash Run stages.
- And 10 more Mii costumes:
Smash PJs (they're pink pajamas with the Smash logo on them...) (All Types)

Having a common name isn't really the best reason to dislike your name, IMO.
I mean, my name is Chris.
And despite the fact that my name has caused me trouble in the past for several reasons, and despite the fact that there are many people I know with same names, I still love my name.
I don't think I could ever hate it.

To some extent.
Yes, Paper Mario is another Mario, true, but the thing that differentiates Paper Mario from most other Marios is his properties as a character, being made of paper and all.
In the end, Metal Mario is literally just a Metal version of regular Mario, but Paper Mario is a completely different character. Still Mario, yes, but very different in terms of potential, not necessarily Identity.

I'd be meh with him, but at least he would be a different side of Mario that haven't been used yet

I mean yeah, still a mustachioed hero, either way, but at least he's better than Metal Mario.
Because unlike Metal Mario, who is just a form of Mario that became his own character, Paper Mario is actually a different character.
It's kinda like Link and Toon Link.
In the end, they're both still Link, even though they aren't the same character.
Also, Paper Mario is more expressive than Mario, kinda like how Link is always stoic, while TL is...
Well, I dunno if it's possible to describe TL's expressions.

But it doesn't matter if Layton is "another swordsman" as long as he's unique/has an interesting moveset.
Most of the swordfighters in the game have something about them that makes them all different/unique from each other.

Metal Mario actually has a solid past with Smash Bros. In the 64 game, Metal Mario was a mini boss, had his own stage and music. He returned in Melee again as a mini boss with Metal Luigi. It would be a pretty cool shoutout to the first Smash game basically. The biggest issue I would assume is popularity, and the case of the Metal Box.
But it's really irrelevant because that leak is about as fake as commercial food.
