No seriously she acts just like one. Prefers human food over anything we can afford on a regular basis, sits around on the couch and pillows all day, doesn't like being held and looks like she tolerates being scratched, and yet despite it all I always want to scoop her up and start petting her.

Oh yeah, and she sheds like Garfield.

Be abundantly clear about your concerns and intentions with her. Explain all of this clearly, and ask her if there is any chance, if indeed she is or isn't or would possibly be interested in you romantically. Do not be led on.
And, above all, be a good cheer about it. Nothing is more attractive than people who can take rejection and heartache.
Being honesty helps with that too. Bypass the fuzzy and ambiguous social conventions which restrict!

That is what I mean. Being a good owner (aka going for vet visits, getting medications, buying the right food, toys, and all the other stuff) costs a lot.

Bad owners will be cheaper if they don't act so responsibly.

Why do you feel the need for all the complications and hidden messages?

Just shoot her a text. If she's interested, she'll respond to it. Or maybe she's out of town or even she lost connection or something.

If the issue is a potentially broken relationship, what's wrong with just asking?

I want to eventually get a corn snake. Nothing fancy, just basic. I used to own a skink but it died of some sort of cancer. If I get one though, I'll definitely need to get him a hat.
