The Videos

I don't expect you to watch them all, just any of the most recent will do. At the very LEAST, these are videos we can look back on to see our progress. We dont upload all our recorded matches - so there is no reflection of who won most that day.

Todays Message: I feel i've vastly improoved! We're european so cant play Wifi yet, its hard to tell how well we might do in a tournament. We went back and played melee, to us it felt slower than brawl! However we weren't not pros with Wavedashing. And Is it me but Brawl DOES NOT HURT YOUR HANDS? Melee destroys my hands! I have to stop playing after a couple of hours. Brawl I can play for a whole day and nothing is bothering my hands! I think the game is more fluid?

Thanks, and yeah the range is INSANE! However it lags a bit after you do the move, so I often get owned if the opponent powershields it!

Thanks a lot! Yeah I love doing Shine into smashes, it knockes the opponent away and has decent range perfect enough distance to smash them! If it becomes an adopted tatic I could say i was one of the first or the first, but probably someone else would get the recognition lol!

Have you tried for a feel for the rest of the guys? Wolf isn't the type of character you "learn". He plays quite different.

Nah, trust me dude, i'm not one of the converts that decided to like wolf two days ago. I've wanted him in since melee, but since he wasn't there i just went ahead with falco.

Anyways, yes me and my friends played brawl 10 hours straight the day we got it so i played with everyone, a lot.

Yeah I dont really have an approach plan. Because I just fire constant lasers at them until they approach me, while theyre approaching fire laser to stop them running, maybe do his fsmash or power shielf then dsmash because its fast.

But yeah i never even think about approaching on the ground, I just fire constant lasers, usually REALLY pisses them off and they come for you. Honestly my mates say they HATE the laser so much because its so effective. When im approaching from the air i often use SHINE because it has good range and knocks them back a little so you can combo. Sometimes i use neatural A because has little lag after.

I hope to get more vids up soon but im a busy guy, LOTS of college work atm! Thanks for the feedback guys, i expected to get called 'Noob' or something lol :)

Wolf seems to be one of those very well rounded characters, being fast enough with powerful attacks and having decent knockback.
Well played though, I see I'm gonna have to practice a bit before I play you online, heh.

i use "autocancelled" (or whatever you wanna call it) f-airs to approach. i sh f-air and then DI backwards to get out of grab range. you can pressure your opponent's shield pretty well doing this.

not bad, learn to ground dodge vs marth, he has a SICK edgehog, i didn't see ur opponent use it but trust me on that, you dont want to be off the stage at ANY percent, btw though really nice vids, maybe throw in some jabs (also good vs marth) great use of reflector also

btw your opponent didnt tech much, so take advantage of that with your down throw, non tech'd dthrow = fsmash

Thanks for the tips.

Ive uploaded more videos now! My mate 'Yeniths' has started to learn my tatics and sheild them at correct times now forcing me to do new things. Ive never fealt this depth before (I think because i never played melee so seriously).

MUCH MUCH MUCH better, stry not to roll vs marth though (i think u know why) and at the begining of the first one, i really liked that illusion in the begining, anticipating a jump i hope, i cant tell you how much those have paid off for me, just risky :]

EDIT: vs marth Usmash is a bad idea, tempting but it has low priority, im not 100% sure about which has more priority but i have much more luck with Utilt, only Usmash when he techs into you, i cant really think of any other circumstances (maybe after a very low % canceled fair?)

There were a few problems.

1. learn to sweetspot
2. dont roll-dodge after every smash
3. dont smash every time someone is next to you

other than that your fine

I wouldn't bother trying to spike him. Wolf's Bair sizzles with sexy. You probably could have KOed him with that rather than the startup laggy Dair.

1. What do you mean exactly by learn to sweetspot?
2. What should I do INSTEAD of Roll Dodging? I guess im a bit obsessed with it lol.
3. Rather than smash, what would you recommend?

Yeah ive learnt spiking marth is extremly hard, so I dont even try this DAir anymore.

sweetspot, like time your side b to hit the ledge perfectly

instead of roll dodge, maybe sh aerial (especially if you've mastered the l-canceled fair) roll dodge leaves you extremely open

with wolf dsmash is usually a good option, so are jabs, neither leave you very open, both come out fast, i prefer dsmash(wolfs jabs are slow), but some sh aerials are extremely effective at close range, say he's behind u, sh bair is just as fast as a jab

Kinda a noobie question but what is an l-cancel? Also for SH bair should you try to get the Bair out as soon as the jump starts or near the end?

Alex, L in l-cancel stand for lag, as in the animation of the character "standing up" after performing an attack, causing a delay before you can perform another action. as for the sh bair, do it however you want, if you do it immediately though you can follow it with a double jump before you hit the ground to 2 more bairs, just mess around with it.

for the fair, when you sh you perform your fair immediately after jumping, giving the animation time to finish while still in the air, you'll land ready to perform another action. Later today im gonna upload a little video of wolf stuff so look for it 2night POSSIBLY. for more details on canceling other attacks check the main brawl advanced techs thread in general tactics or somethin

PS some attacks are auto l-canceled / just don't have lag (wolfs Bair and Nair)

more importantly, how do you make a video? is there an AV cable that connects from a camcorder to the tv or something? (i never owned one before)

I always thought it was hard as balls to try to edgehog marth, can you explain how you do it? Everytime I race a marth to the edge I either end up eating his sword or I roll away too early and he just takes the ledge.

As for the videos, I love how often you use that shine, never realized how fast and unexpected that thing could come out.

Well i would recommend checking this video out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlqqLQCHNHo the guy in this uses the same set-up to record as we do, hope it helps! If you end up buying the stuff, don't be put of by the high prices of some of the items, keep having a hunt, you can find a lot of the items for a lot cheaper

Man, gettin CG'd to dair all the time must suck. What's been the best way to escape the spike or the Cg in general that you've found (short of not being grabbed)?

And that vid hosted from uk youtube showed an amazing edge game on both part, but how come you rarely use up-b and always opt for the side b? 'Cause I noticed you've managed to spike falco a few times with side-b, but it seems a lot easier to be edge hogged and once or twice you've side-b'd into his dair.

I am amazed by how brave you are with Wolf under the ledge. That's by far my most favorite thing to see in your videos.

Wolydarg, I think he uses the side-b over the up-b in certain situations as it's simply a safer move. I saw Skalor get stuck with the up-b.

Woly, its pretty simple, I use side B whenever I want to try spike and get back, but i use UpB whenever I JUST want to recover. Up B has longer range. I know I can recover and possibly kill with side B so thats why I use it alot, and i also know its range so i can hit with it quite often as u can see in the vids. Sometimes i pull myself back so I know I can hit with the side B, or make sure i grab the ledge.

Woly, to your comment on the chaingrab. Its annoying, but you have to accept it happening to you if ur facing a falco player. From my experiance, Yeniths COULD get a spike kill at the end everytime if he does it RIGHT, however sometimes he gets it wrong. So I dont know what to say how to escape at the end, jumping up and away from the stage helps if he misses, but then when u recover he can punish you with another spike! Im still unsure on this issue because I dont know its full potential and if Yen could do it better. HOWEVER to avoid it to begin with, you can stand on a platform and fight there until uve been dealt 40% then ur safe to stand on the floor. BUT if your on Final Destination you might litterly let him deal 40% to you for free somehow, obviously u can fight back, but u need to be in center I think. Im no PRO on this issue, however i can see this being VERY important in the future with competitive play. If you watch our future vids im sure u will be able to see this develop.

Hunter, yeah the thing I love most is the edge fighting! Its exciting thrilling, maybe more so than anything else in brawl, and its so important, I love when falco trys to recover, i shoot him with laser, then grab the ledge, it COMPLETELY destroys him lol. Also shine and laser often confuses ur opponent because it cancels there move and they drop fast.

Is it possible to tech the chain throw and escape? I don't have a good Falco to play against.

There are still some spots where I just can't recover with Wolf. Mainly below and slightly away from the stage. It seems to me that I should try to recover before I get stuck there, or wait a bit until a straight up up-b will hopefully be able to recover.
