umm yeah, ive heard wayyyy back on the nsider forums that this was sakurai's last project for ssb. the entire series. its a trilogy like halo3.
(and i might eat those words if a new halo comes out cuz of the end of the credits scene )

Did they just cut her at the last minute?

Sakurai said in the Iwata asks interwiew that Brawl is our 3rd installment. It sounds to me they're making another one.

Not quite... yes, Krystal is in Brawl, but I don't think they ever intended her to be a PC. The VA is just voicing her for the secret taunts in the Lylat Cruise level.
