They are all layer modes. Just click the rectangle with normal inside and select the proper layer. I can't belive you didn't know that (no offence in any way).

Here is a diagram what my GIMP looks like:
Left
Toolbar (main gimp screen)----------Image(s)-----Layer dialog (layer, channels, paths, undo history, etc.)

In the layer screen, there will be a rectangle with an arrow with "Mode:" next to it and "Layers" above it. It should read normal. Pull down the drop down menu and select the layer of which you seek.

If he's not clear enough, in the actual image edit screen, there is a little drop down titled dialog on the far right, drop it down and go to layer from there, then , while on the layer screen, you just click the rectangle at the top for all the options.
