Well, I've returned, and it'll probably take me a couple days to get back to full steam. Listening to the MONSTERPANDACAST now and looking forward to the week-long episode of SMYN to fill up the updateless week.


Hope you all had a great Christmas!! I did NOT get my DS (lol), BUT I'm just going to buy myself one anyway (lolol). I bought Pokemon Pearl and Phantom Hourglass and also bought Superbad ( that movie). Got some CDs, Halo for PC, and a distortion pedal for my guitar. Cool stuff.

Have a happy new year! Panda and I are starting to combine ideas for episode 27, aka the start of season three!

I am downloading the new (or is it old?) episode, since I have not heard it

Just a random tale (If you are not interested don't keep reading): Anyways on my trip to the US, I took the chance that games are a bit lower than half the price in my country and bought 3 games (and beat 1 which I din't buy), got Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy (already up to 97 stars, would be more but my sister wants me to only play it when she is around so she can see me beat it), Mario and Sonic at the Olympics games, and beat Super Paper Mario, which my cousin had at his house.


Well anyways, I don't have much time, I'll try and catch up to everything in about 2 days. Until then boards .

Thanks for thinking of making a 5-part podcast. It helps people stomach that the Dojo is on hiatus for a week. I hope you guys make it an hour long each day. It keeps people interested because its not as long as a movie but theres enough "gossip" to chat about.

I want to send my opinions and thoughts too for these podcasts so look me up when it comes to thoughts of the day.

You guys should definitely discuss Knuckles and the real Jump Festa on Monday, along with Rosalina and Duster now announced as assists. You guys should talk about what possible actions they do during a match and how they can shift the tides of battle.

Why?

Honestly, I would think that's a waste. They already mentioned Knuckles in a previous podcast. Yes, we get it, Samurai Panda likes Knuckles. And, I would agree that he'd make a good playable character based on his natural brawling ability. However, there really isn't space for more third party characters from the same franchise as Sonic. That space is limited to very specific selections of characters, and for Sakurai to even consider making Knuckles playable (and possibly sacrificing a roster spot for Simon Belmont, Bomberman, Rayman, etc.) would be silly. There's just too much potential for more interesting third-party characters from different franchises. It would be a different story if we knew that Brawl was getting 5-8 third-party characters, but from a logical standpoint such an idea is preposterous.

Knuckles as an assist trophy is the way to go. I fully support that, and it just makes plain sense. Knuckles comes in, starts beating up one of the players in signature Knuckles fashion, and then leaves. Easy, effective implementation that does well to give Knuckles the recognition he deserves.

Really, how much needs to be said about the inclusion of more Sonic characters?

I think Knuckles just being an AT is more of a case of "everyone will be happy." There, at least he's actually in the game, but isn't taking up a roster spot. I'd like to see him as an AT for the sole reason that I want to keep more roster spots open for possibly more deserving characters from other franchises. I do want him in the game, period, because I like him as a character in general and think he'd make a great AT out of all the other Sonic characters. Being an assist trophy is the compromise between inclusion and exclusion of a character, and it makes the most logical sense for Knuckles to fall into that compromise.

And go to the Sonic boards or the Knuckles topic to discuss Knuckles. They do enough of that on the Sonic boards, and if there's no Knuckles topic (which I highly doubt), make one.

Look Panda, I mean not to offend you, but Knuckles has next to no chance of being in Brawl. The third party characters are guests in Brawl, and their series will only be represented in the form of NPCs, stages, music and the like.

Knuckles, actually, imo, has a low chance of being an AT. If (when) Sonic gets an AT, it will be Tails. Another possible Sonic AT is Shadow (chaos control). How will Knuckle's be in Brawl? Well, I think he will be part of a stage, namely Angel Island which I believe will be one of the Sonic stages (he'll probably get a second stage representing the 3-D games). He could occasionaly glide down damaging anyone in his path. Then, he would dig and immerge somewhere randomly dealing damage to that person.

I think Knuckles, if any more Sonic characters are playable, has a decent chance. Granted, I think Tails deserves it more, but I wouldn't complain if Knuckles made it in before him. However, if Shadow or anyone else gets in in any way, shape, or form before Knuckles does, I will be a sad Sonic fan

Then again, I talked enough about the Sonic franchise in my viewpoint few weeks back.

Okay, I only brought up Knuckles because I thought it was a coincidence that Podcast 25 ended up talking about Knuckles a few days before Sakurai mentioned Knuckles on the Dojo. Jeez. I need to make myself clear so no one starts busting my chops.

Podcast 26 (A to E)...why not talk about Brawl going gold at the moment. Its finished in programming. That could make for a nice short talk. Sakurai needed 4 extra weeks for programming bits and fixes here and there. You guys could mention your guesses on what he specifically fixed, whether its the online or maybe a last minute character request. It can stretch for a good five (past) minutes.

Back to real possible discussions on this week's podcast, how about talking about the information so far leaked by Serebii. You guys can talk about who this guy is. Why does he have so many connections. How come he knows stuff we don't know. It makes sense to talk about it because the dude is being an American Sakurai for not giving us the good spoilers on Brawl. He mentions a lot of things that are cool on his site and if he knows whats going on Brawl, why not talk about what he's leaked so far. He mentions that there is a new cool Pokemon surprise who will be playable and I think we know who it is (but you guys can make guesses on what that could be). He's mentioned more I can't find at the moment but I'll get back here to post what I found once I find it or other people can tell about after my post. It be cool giving a short podcast mentioning the guy who has so much time to make an awesome site about Pokemon yet juggle an education and a social life.

Alright, i THINK there will be another charachter representing the SONICE series. Now whether that charachter be, Knuckles ( he would seem more suitable,due to him being a fighter... plus his name is KNUCKLES) the witty Tails, or even Dr. Robotnik (just to keep the villain-ratio there i.e Link- Ganon, Mario-Bowser, PIkachu- Metwo). But me personally i would rather have a "sidekick" than say a villain. But comparing and contrasting between tails and knuckles, one can wonder how tails will handle, i mean yeah he can hover/fly to the effect of a Kirby, Pit etc. But how will he attack? Now knuckles we can see how he could possibly fight, but recovery??? hey they made it work for sonic (rather appropiately to). The nod? If anything i would say Knuckles WILL be in brawl, so pack your bags Buzz.

An also, i think there WILL be 36-40 charchters, give or take a few. So that leaves many options available seeing as how we do know about a couple that are returning, Ganon, Shiek, Jiggs, Falco?!?!, NESS?!?! Luigi ( with his poltergeist 3000, due to mario getting his F.L.U.D.D) and so on. I mean come on you didnt think that all the NEWCOMER charachters on the dojo would be it, right?
And that also doesn't mean that all the remaining slots HAVE to be from a 3rd party. I mean nintendo has vast series' im sure they can think of something.


And on the note of villain- to hero aspect, Ridley is another BIG name, there... i mean should veteran Samus really still be the only Metroid charater represented in the Smash series?

Now this is mere speculation, but it seems abour right, right?

but yeah jsut some stuff i wanted to throw out there, by the way me personally im expecting a delay. I dont think the game has gone "gold" yet. I mean like said on recent podcasts, buisness wise it is possible, and come on everyone KIRBY SNAKE HAT, with the NADE said delay lol j/k

There never was a real set number of how many third parties we are going to see. People assumed early on it was 2 to 3 because thats how logic works when it comes to third-parties in multi-playing games. Sakurai made a statement about third parties way before Nintendo was making agreements on who else could serve on their possible final roster. If you look at an interview on IGN (I can't find the site but I read it yesterday), Sakurai mentions that he doesn't know how many third-parties they are going to really put in Brawl.

Discussion wise...is it fair that Sonic joins the Brawl but Tails get left out as an assist (most people say he is a shoe in for assist)? Mario has Luigi. Why not see Tails in too. Who cares about one representation from each third-party when we want to see balance being done in this game. If Mario has his entourage, why can't Sonic have a few mates join in too. (I don't personally want Sonic to bring all of his "clones" but it be cool if he brought Dr. Eggman and Tails for the he-ck of it to battle out against Mario, Luigi, and Bowser.) (I would love that Amy get mentioned as a trophy though just so Sonic's girl makes a cameo in Brawl too. Peach and Zelda can be playable but Amy should make some scene too.)

(I want to mention again that Brawl is gold-its out of Sakurai's hands so Megaman might not be playable if the creator wasn't contacted about it but there's still a glimmer of hope that Nintendo contacted Capcom before then and didn't mention it to the creator-haha-that sounds pitiful for the dude-sorry-its true.)

If Megaman were to appear, he has to make himself stand out from the version we knew in Capcom vs. Marvel series. That way, he seems more modern and can fit better into the Brawl world. I'm surprised how Sonic and Snake managed to fit in Brawl, as well as Pit's anime look though. This gives me more hope Lloyd or Emil might pop in Brawl. (Sorry for that mention)

What are you talking about? How would Mega Man not fit in Brawl? Seems more modern? What does that have to do with anything? Your post makes no sense to me. You can't see Mega Man fit, but you see Lloyd or Emil fitting? And fit is a very loose term. What exactly do you mean by it?

Megaman (original suit) in Brawl is weird for me to imagine. I was so used to seeing him in Capcom vs. Marvel that seeing him now in Brawl, especially in that suit, is going to be so...can't think of the word...

I hope they use a new look for him, that way, it doesn't remind me of how he looked and what his moves were in Capcom vs. Marvel. He needs to stand out differently from his first multi-playing role.
