Should The 3DS Version include a free Circle Pad Pro?

I think the 3DS version of SSB4 should include a free (or at least damn good deal on the) Circle Pad Pro!
I think it would easily boost the sales of the game due to the extra incentive, and you know that Smash Bros. on 3DS would be played primarily with the Circle Pad Pro.
Your thoughts?

I don't care either way. The 3DS version is probably just going to be a watered down version anyways. Sure, its Smash Brothers on a portable, but still...

I think that the 3DS version should be like the Vita version of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (Forgive me, Smash Gods!), in the sense that the Wii U version and 3DS version can fight each other seamlessly, even online. The Circle Pad Pro would pretty much be required for that.

I hate to tell you, but the Wii U isn't compatible with GameCube controllers, but fear not, as the Wii U Pro controller is very comfortable, and one could easily adapt from the GameCube controller to the Pro Controller like they did from the N64 controller to the GameCube controller.
...But I will concede that that is a badass Circle Pad Pro, but rumble seems a bit overkill.

Ya know, I was so worried about the screen being too small on my non-3DSXL that I totally forgot how balls the controls will be...

I don't think the controls will be very bad with a Circle Pad Pro, which is why I think the game should be bundled with it. Without the CPP, ehhhh. Well, they made Brawl compatible with JUST the Wii Remote.

This shouldn't happen, because there are two 3DS models.

If anything, SSB4 should be bundled with CPP XL since that wasn't released in the west yet. But SSB4 should also be available on its own, obviously, for people who own a regular 3DS.

Since sakurai's planning on making game cross-platformed (i.e. people playing a game together with Wii U and 3DS), A circle pad being provided is very possible.

What possibilites could this feature behold? The obvious could be tag teaming? I might actually want to see the amount of players doubled to 8

I doubt it, MGS 3D didn't come with one and that practically required it.
All it'd really be required for would be the c-stick, as Smash uses X and Y, and L and R, for the same inputs anyway, and you can grab with either Z or L/R + A, so you don't need the extra shoulder buttons.
Considering the Wii Remote had shake smash I'm sure they could enable that, or just use screen swipes, considering the gameplay will more than likely be on the top screen.
It'll more than likely have an option to use the circle pad, but I doubt they'd push it as the main control scheme.

There are also two different Circle Pad's for the 3DS, so they'd either have to make two different bundles or leave out the original 3DS owners.

One analog stick, two non-digital shoulder buttons, and generic 4 button layout for Smash.

I hate to tell you, but the Wii U isn't compatible with GameCube controllers, but fear not, as the Wii U Pro controller is very comfortable, and one could easily adapt from the GameCube controller to the Pro Controller like they did from the N64 controller to the GameCube controller.
Thing is, N64->GC was easy because people hadn't been playing for half as long and the N64 controller was pretty bad, IIRC 64 players still use mods/3rd party controllers to play Smash 64 today.

There's a GC->WiiUPro controller convertor so no worries if it converts laglessly.

After playing Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion on the 3DS, I severely doubt I'll need to buy a Circle Pad Pro for Smash 3D (and at this rate any game). In fact, I've love Punch Time Explosion's control scheme so much I've been using that when playing Super Smash Flash 2 & Super Smash Bros. Crusade on my gamepad (and I plan to do this with the Wii U controllers too).

Second analog would be a C-stick equivalent, then? There are no extra buttons on the Circle Pad Pro besides an extended trigger so it doesn't 1-up the standard 3DS layout in that way. If we're proposing the mock-up image in post #4 the question we'd be asking is, "Will Nintendo design a second Circle Pad that imitates the GC controller (or other controller for that matter)?"

As it is I think it (the existing Circle Pad) wouldn't be packaged and I doubt that they'd essentially create a new controller just to give us more options. I can maybe see it being supported for additional control options.

Technically you could play with a Wii Remote too, but that's not ideal for the most of us.
I know, I do own a copy of SSBB.
However, the topic is should it include a free CPP, and I don't believe there is any need to have it as the primary control scheme, as the game would function perfectly without it.
SSBB did use the Classic Controller as a control scheme though, so technically you could play the Wii U version (and 3DS version for that matter) with that control scheme/face button layout.

I think it would add extra incentive to buy the 3DS version of SSB4.
Here are a few people that I think could be swayed by the free CPP:
-People that bought the Wii U version, own a 3DS, but on the fence about buying the same game twice.
-3DS owners without a Circle Pad Pro that are looking to buy one, but don't have any games for it.
-Those on the fence about buying Super Smash Bros. 4, and need the extra incentive. (This one is different, because they don't own the Wii U version, nor do they plan to.)
-Casual players that just like free stuff.

I wonder how many people saw that a 3DS stand came with Kid Icarus Uprising and jumped at the game?

There's quite a big difference between a stand and a CPP.

Well I'm thinking, unless the person had a game that required or would greatly benefit from the CPP why would an extra goody send them over the edge? There are like 2 games that as I understand it benefit from it atm.

To be honest, even if CPP XL came out I'm not sure I would get it. I think I can see myself learning to play with "normal" controls just to avoid the inconvenience of having to attach/unattach the CPP XL depending on what I decide to use my 3DS for.

Hopefully the game doesn't need CPP to be fun! If the smash attacks are well programmed then it shouldn't be a problem.
Maybe there is another good reason not to use CPP.. it lets me use a jump button. Maybe not, but it's worth a try.
Jump being a button is something I instantly liked about PS All Stars. It just felt natural.

By the way. If you connect CPP to the 3DS and hold it upside down, will the 3DS fall out? That may affect my decision.

Technically you could play with a Wii Remote too, but that's not ideal for the most of us.
Well what about N64 controller?
Isn't playing on a 3DS essentially a return to the series roots?

N64 controller isn't that great either, the 3DS is really different (I like it more than any of the Classic Controllers TBH) but I'd still perfer the GC style button layout.

On second thought I may consider getting the CPP XL after all. The XL system is just too heavy, but a CPP attachment may help to shift some of the weight/bulk to the side you actually hold.

yep, I don't need a game to use it with, I just want it for ergonomic reasons. D:

well there's this:
http://www.gamestop.com/nintendo-3ds/accessories/3ds-xl-comfort-grip/106461
but it's online only
and Circle Pad Pro looks like it would be better

I've moved this thread to the 3DS boards. Anyway, I guess I can kinda see a small bundle with the extra circle pad happening. Hopefully one for the XL version too....

No, it won't include a free Circle Pad Pro. Least of the reasons being Nintendo wanting to cut out the middleman in physical retail (I always buy physical but they're not going to give us advantages...), among actual costs (manufacturing circle pad pros aren't free, larger box means fewer potential copies per shipment). When KI:U included just the stand free, which was not electronic and probably cheaper to make, physical was the only distribution method. KI:U was also liable to give you repetitive motion injury with its controls scheme.

Bottom line is Nintendo wants to make you pay for their mistake in not including a second analog on the 3DS.

I hope so. Or atleast make a gamecube controller add on for it. 1% chance that will happen.

Just thought of yet another reason why not: 2DS, 3DS, and 3DS XL all need a different Circle Pad Pro, if the 2DS even ever gets one.

No clue if the 2DS will have a Circle Pad Pro (I have my doubts) but looks like someone modded a CPP to work on a 2DS.

I was thinkin it'd make more sense to have a virtual c-stick on the bottom screen, it would be roughly in the same spot as a c-stick on the gc controller.

I kinda assume Sakurai will incorporate some sorta "slide smash", similar to the wimmotes "shake smash" in brawl.

I can't wrap my head around using the circle pad pro to do smash attacks, I mean its to the side of the buttons! THE SIDE! Not below, or even above, but to the side! Seriously how is that gonna work!?!
