Should Sakurai announce all unlockables before the game comes out?

Being an Englishman, in order to play the game unspoiled would mean staying off the internet for what is at the moment an unknown amount of time, most likely going to be months, which really isn't an option. So learning about the characters will either be on the Dojo, where Sakurai gives his lovely description of the character and how they play, with some very nice screenshots to go with it, or as a tiny box on the leaked character select screen or an obscured shot of them in battle. Admittedly, I could deal with the latter, but I'd much rather go with the former option.

While I understand that there are people who want to avoid spoilers at all cost, but personally I don't see what the big deal is. Smash is a fighting game about playing with your favourite Nintendo (and now a couple of 3rd party) characters, so I don't see how knowing the full roster beforehand ruins the game that much. For me it's a load of my mind knowing whoever is actually in the game instead of stressing about it while playing the game worrying if my hopefuls are in or not. Still, different strokes for different folks I guess.

I wouldn't mind him spoiling the characters. The only thing it effects is who I want to unlock first!

All of them? No, I personally don't believe he should. Some surprises should definitely be left to be learned upon the game's release, or leaked by people who get advanced copies or have Japanese contacts (in the case of smashers outside Japan).

Some of them though, certainly. Primarily those who are most obvious and highly desired (King Dedede, Krystal, returning veterans, and the like), folks that aren't a great surprise but will please the fans; and third-party characters - their inclusion is big news, no matter who they are, so announcing them will drive hype through the roof. I think the best way to do it would be to give us some from those categories (perhaps all of the second), but keep the rest secret.

People who really care about spoilers wont go onto smashbros.com, it's like how nobody went to muggle net before the harry potter book was released.

besides, it's just smash bros, not some epic adventure game, you will have fun playing this game, even if you see all the spoilers.

Oh, and yes, I hope he shows all of them as soon as possible.

AND! if you're reading this now, you're looking at smash boards, therefore you're going to have all the spoilers the second they come out, so why even debate it?

go wavedash under a rock and think about the awesomeness of Ice Climbers returning until Brawl comes out.
I know I know. Maybe I exaggerated a bit..But of course it will still be enjoyable to me.
I know one way or another [If He Reveals Them All] I'll at least over here or see news about some secret Characters. Thats the only thing really I would like not to be spoiled, everything else is fine.

Being an Englishman,
I feel for English people who want surprizes, since you don't have much of a choice. You'll either need to keep from going on the internet from (at least) Dec 3 on till your launch, or see them all.

He updates the site everyday. You're going to find out (assuming he does put new chars up) just because you're on this board. So, why not leave the gaming sites alone for a while? We have a couple of months till launch, do you really think he's not going to add any new characters till after Dec 3? I sound like an ***, lol, I'm really not trying to be. I'm just kind of curious, since being here is like being on a harry potter website right before the book launches and not wanting to hear anything. peace bro

Just makes 'ya wonder...

I think the only reason he did Snake today is because of the Konami press conference showing off Snake fighting. He knew that supernerds would find footage and begin analyzing the controls to see what move was what, so he just threw Snake on there. Same with how he showed everything he announced at E3 the day after it.

So, Snake is going to enter the stage by coming out of a Pokeball and saying 'EKANS!'? :p

I'm thinking that the most unlockable and collectable stuff will be shown after the game is released. Possibly the methods to unlocking these things will also be aired, but that would defeat the purpose of selling strategy guides. (but is not completely unlikely, I think I recall the officlal Smash Bros. site showing off the most basic ways of unlocking each and every one of the characters)

I think he should, that way, everybody wins. I would rather hear it on the Dojo than on some gaming website a few hours after the Japanese release.
well there's a simple solution to that. don't go online and look at gaming websites once bbrawl is released in Japan.

I say he should. I remember hearing something about an interview how he like to show all the characters before the games release because before Melee someone spoiled the entire roster.

They havent done that before, so why start now? they only reveal the starters, and snake is an exception, but i really hope they dont show everyone, im guessing they will start uploading them on the dojo and how to unlock them after the game releases, it sounds logic, i mean, if they are "secret" characters, why would they be revealed before launch?? they wouldnt be secret then ¬¬

But well, it seems nintendo is trying hard to f*ck things up with brawl, those big pics and names next to the %, random online play with no statistics, so it wouldnt be a surprise that they f*ck up on this too

I hope he doesn't. I'd like to have some element of surprise when I play through.

Like after my 1 millionth match I unlock wavedashing. That'd be hot.

if he keeps on revealing a character every week there coiuld only be 10 spots left to go. And I can think of seven veterans and 4 main newcomers. But at the end of the day it's quite a disappointment for characters in my view. And let's not foget supposedly 2 of the newcomers are supposed to be 3rd parties.

He really neewds to give us a new trailer. That way if he does run out on time of revealing/updating characters, then we can forgive him and say it's okay.....

Also i'm not going to go online once I get the game. And it's because of the reason of the first post, if he does decide to keep hidden characters secret. I want to be surprised when I unlock King Deedee, Sigurd or even Sonic. If they are in of course. I'm going to basically do everything I can, or I think there is, get a guide and then, set a time for going online.

I truly don't think he will. If he does then yeah..one secret character would be spoiled for me. Learning from that, I would have to stay off of many of the forums I visit..which would suck.

And like I said before, anything is ok for me except secret characters. I would like it though if he kept a limit to revealing the entire game before we play it.
