This is the way I look at it

Do what works, whatever that is.
If you notice a pattern, [and you should be looking for them, as a CF player] then be sure to A) beat the pattern and B) Point out the pattern.
When they start noticing the pattern over and over they'll change it.

And changing is the start of improvement

well... what i meant to say is i can beat him most of the time but i have to play in a "gay" style to do so and I really really need to focus hard to beat him
There's no way to play a "gay" falcon against Fox, but you should ALWAYS have to focus really hard to play him. Sometimes I have to switch to Peach after playing enough Falcon because my head begins to hurt.

lolwut?

Yes there is, it's called DashDancing, doublejumping, and nairing a lot. Falcon has to be really gay in that mu.

someone needs to define what "gay" means. Cause . . . it is just the most vague expression.

I friend who plays ice climbers and does this same thing. He refuses to learn any tech skill. I used to think it was all about the tech skill and would practice all day working on super technical "fancy" stuff. Then go over to his house and smash with my friends for hours and lose to him rolling, forward smashing, and down smashing. He uses ice blocks in an attempt to bait the opponent into approaching and then does one of two smashes when you go for the aerial, dash attack, or whatever you decide to do. Then he rolls around and does it again. Once in a while I'd get a little combo or spam some tech skill on him, but I was losing by two or three stocks on some occasions.

I'd go home and get on smashboards and try to learn more about the game and then think I came to some revelation about how things work, go back over a few days later with my new knowledge and get steam rolled again. After I went to my first two (and only two) tournaments and started practicing more with a new friend, I learned a ton more about smash and dropped the old mentality I had before. I started putting things together and connecting important ideas.

So after all this, I went over and played smash with my friends after not playing with them for about a month because they weren't around. I lost like two rounds over the course of a couple hours. I rarely went down to one stock and got a few four stocks.

So my advice to you would be to apply all the knowledge you have about smash and use it during each and ever match that you want to take seriously. Not that all your matches have to be played this way, but if you're playing a few serious matches each time with your friend out of all the matches you play at one time, then use what you know about reads, spacing, tech skill, mind games, and so on to win you the match. Don't just pick one area and focus on it, you'll basically be doing what he's doing then.

I find myself playing gayer and gayer as falcon every day =(

It's like, the only way I know how to play...and I hate it. I think it's because everyone I play is better than me (or is sheik/puff/marth) so I play really defensively, dash dance a hell lot, defensive nairs...pivot nairs...space the **** out of nairs (it's the only thing i feel i'm good at cuz I learn from the school of s2j)

ESSENTIALY CAMPING WITH FALCON... Fml...I hate camping

*i actually really suck, so if you are looking to apply to the school of s2j, don't take me as an example. They have a really good program in the school of s2j falcon.*

Lol I don't think it's a big deal being "gay".
I look for an opening, and try to exploit that opening as much as possible.
So yes I will DD and grab camp, but I'll also do silly combos and stuff when I get the chance.

Is that "gay"? Or is that kind of the best way to play?
I don't think there's really a difference.

Don't know...seems pretty gay. I didn't pick up falcon as my main to camp =( If I wanted to go camping I'd go to the local walmart, pick up some smores and marshmallows and head out for a weekend. Maybe fishing too.
