Ever since childhood I've had a slightly above average memory. I could remember when Rugrats would be on TV everyday of the week, vg cheat codes, what would be on a test a week after it was taken, all that crap. In the past two years though it's been slightly dwindling more and more. Sometimes I can't remember a small act I did maybe 30 seconds ago that doesn't require a lot of thought. For example:
*Sets coat down on the couch in the livingroom, goes into the kitchen for a soda*
*gets soda*
*walks out of the kitchen*
"Where did I put my coat?"
*10 second delay*
"Oh, it's on the couch."
It happens atleast once everyday. It's not major, but noticable. Human memory naturally grows worse over time but I'm only 16. I'm also finding basic things hard to do at times. I can write a short 3 page single-spaced story, but can't tell you how to transfer something onto a SD card. I can tell you where to find the nearest Walmart scenerywise, but I can't tell you what street it's on, or what street to take to get there. I even forgot my aunt's name...more than once. I see her often too.
It's really starting to bug me. You could say it's genetics, it probably is. My father's side tends to have memory lose. It's kind of disheartening because it makes me appear slow to people. The things I may say sound like something that came out of the mouth of a common sense lacking twilight fangirl.
This there a way to improve memory? I've heard games like sudoku, or crossword puzzles might help. Sometimes when I forget something, I try my hardest to remember it without someone telling me. It works, but isn't always succesful.
In the end, I just don't want to look like a dumb f*** infront of people.
