Say a Falcon is recovering underneath an edgehogging Fox on Yoshi's Story. When he gets shined, at what percentage can the shine be techable off of the wall? I know shine has a set knockback for any percentage, but the green flash only seems to happen at mid to higher percentages. Can anyone confirm? Maybe at the smallest percentage this is possible?

never ever ever ever ever. you can be at 999% and never tech with falcon.

the characters that fall down on stage are the characters that can tech fox's shine.

Fox's shine does not knock Falcon down. In the air, it just pushes him away - therefore it is "untechable".

However, shine would knock down an opponent Fox/Falco at any percent. Having set knockback means the percent isn't a determining factor of the move's effect when you connect, and varying percentages do not alter the results of successful hit. Characters that fall down from the shine can tech from 0 all the way up to 999%. The "green flash" only appears when a character is knocked against a solid surface. Because Falcon doesn't fall down from the shine, if you got hit into a wall you'd slide along it, rather than bump or crash into it for the tech.

If you get shined and don't touch a wall, no green flash, and no tech. If you d.i. towards the stage when you are getting shine spiked, it may have a positive effect and allow you to tech - but it isn't 100% foolproof. Think of it as an ace up your sleeve if you simply aren't close enough to the sides of a stage.

Characters that don't fall down from the shine:

Bowser
Falcon
DK
Ganon
Link
Peach
Sheik/Zelda
Yoshi
Samus
Luigi
Ice Climbers
Mario
Doc
Marth
Ness

Characters that fall down from the shine:

Falco
Fox
Game and Watch
Jiggs

Granted, I know Falcon doesn't fall down from the shine. I've been waveshined many times, but! I know I've smacked against the level after being shine spiked. Whether a result of my DI into the stage, the move itself, or just a fluke. I was hoping to keep it in the back of my mind as a secret weapon I could pull out against an unsuspecting Fox and perhaps save a few stocks in the long run.

Couldnt U walljump it? Granted that you weren't to close to the wall? Like you go shine-spiked, then went towards the stage, and then walljump?

When SS got shined, the hit stun from the shine had subsided by the time he had reached the bottom of the level. Thats why he was able to wall-jump. FoD has a sufficient amount of space for most characters to d.i. and wall-jump survive. Don't you think there's a reason everytime you see impossible wall-jump recoveries its always on FoD?

You can't jump or walljump until you are out of the hitstun of the shine. On most levels, thats much too late for you to even attempt to recover.

edit: wowow I thought SS was about to get 4 stocked. Also, I didn't see any techs in that match. Are you sure thats the right one?

d.i.ing the shine mid-air does not make you fall down
this game is dumb sometimes. When you get shined through your grab animation sometimes, you fall over with some characters that aren't supposed to. It's the same with mario / doc's cape when you hit them out of their grab animation. I dunno why it happens with the shine sometimes.

But yeah, DIing the shine mid-air doesn't make you fall down.

Also, the guy was talking about how at the end, he did a walljump -> airdodge. Though he still got hit. Anyways, he could've just held down, so he wouldn't fall off the stage from the shine, and grab the ledge (you have to let go of down before you pass the ledge, otherwise you're screwed).
