"Use these moves as much as you can even before you get used to them. Sometimes things become clearer that way."

What does this mean?

Anyone notice Samus looked like she hopped in that side-step?

Maybe with Brawl, we can fix the term "sidestep". Even Melee called it a sidestep. WhereTF "spot dodge" came from is beyond me. >_>

Well. In the second trailer, we could see Snake apparently rolling (questionable, since he didn't bring up his shield), with pretty high speed. We also saw Pit moving sideways to attack Zero Suit Samus, IIRC. Pit dodged amazingly fast.

We can't see it from the screenshots given on the dojo, but it might just be a lot faster this time around. I certainly hope it is anyway.

"And they make you momentarily invincible, so using them proactively is OK."

This means to me that you are invincible for a short period AFTER the roll ends... which seems terrible to me (can't punish someone at the end of a roll)

Sakurai is exaggerating on the extent of the perks that the rolling gives. Don't think that you're now invincible after the roll, probably just means the part where you roll, which is the same as Melee.
The bubble shield looks pretty much the same, maybe a little shinier, although bigger, because there are a lot more tall characters now, so I assume Sakurai realized he can't give all of them small shields.

"Spot dodging" came from when people started using "air dodging" for the aerial sidestep move. And I know air dodging is used more often, so I can only assume that it the 'dodging' part of the name just jumped from the aerial to the ground version. In fact, I completely forgot that it's actually called sidestep. At least, that's my opinion on it.

I think its just invincible during the roll.
Maybe bigger characters will have a longer invincible period

Argh, some of you see hidden signs in every little thing Sakurai says... Most of the time it's just a literal message, and doesn't mean anything else!

Not surprised no one has commeneted on it, but I have noticed one thing.(not major)

In melee you knew someone was invincible for a split second while rolling because they glowed white just a tad(also applies for pressing R at the ledge), but in Brawl thusfar this white glow is missing. Maybe they didn't want to show it in the trailers, or maybe its out for good.

Again, nothing major and we'll all get use to it, but it is a difference.

Also, siderolling is said to be awesome by Sakurai only because he's noob friendly and casual players get massive wood from siderolling and sidedodging. There still will be a slight window of end lag afterward, if not it'd be absolutely ridiculous. Don't give it much thought, it's the same as in Melee.

The rolling may be faster, but if predicted, can still be punishable. It'll be fun beating roll spammers.

Go into Melee and do a Roll, you are momentarily invincible when you are rolling, hence the reason it is a used to dodge an attack, once the roll ends you are no longer invincible and can be attacked, even with some ppl while doing rolls in Melee during the roll you can notice when they are no longer invincible and can attack them with a Dsmash if you are right next to them or with any other well timed attack
