SHFFLing advice

I can generally shffl any of Falcon's aerials without too much trouble, but there are two aerials in particular that I think could use some work on my part. First is the dair, and second is the uair.

From my perspective (maybe I'm blind or maybe I'm watching Falcon gameplay wrong), it seems like most Falcons don't actually shffl stomps in the traditional sense--that is, they short hop and l-cancel it, but unless my eyes deceive me I see very few Falcons fast-falling short-hopped stomps. I've been working this into my own Falcon play with some success, but I just want to make sure I'm right--is it best not to fast-fall stomps because the animation needs more time to finish or something?

Secondly, my uair game needs work, but I think I know the problem with it. I haven't historically used the c-stick for anything, but I'm guessing that's a bad idea just from my experience with uairs, because while I've probably gotten as good at shffling them with A+joystick as is possible, I still sometimes inadvertently jump, which of course defeats the purpose if I'm trying to combo someone across the stage and they're close to the ground.

Also any suggestions on extra utilities of these two moves would be appreciated as well. Thanks.

You should start practicing doing all your aerials with the C-stick except for neutral air.

Sometimes falcons don't fast fall the d-air you are correct. There are various reasons why people don't want to fast fall the dair (aka stomp...we call it stomp here on the falcon boards).

Some reasons I can think of out of the top of my head for why you don't want to fast fall stomps:
-covers more distance when you don't fast fall
-you can sometimes dodge certain moves when you don't fast fall (ie. stomp out of shield vs space animal utilt) source: s2j, i never managed to succeed when doing this but i trust him
-etc....

When I first learned falcon, it took sometime getting used to his aerials because you don't usually fast fall them right away. It was especially difficult for me to shffl nairs properly when hitting a target because there are two hits... It took sometime getting used to but afterwards it became pretty easy and now it feels like sex!

with c-stick you can have a lot more precision with your aerials which is important.

d-air: learn how to stomp with fastfall and without. very important for a mix of situations. For the fast fall version you should stomp (almost) as soon as you short hop and fast fall and the hitbox should still come out

up-air: similarly to d-air: there's two ways to use it

if you wanna up-air quickly off the ground to combo an up-air, hold up lightly to jump and also press a to quickly short hop up-air. master this and you can do classic isai combos on people who di like noobs

the quick low up-air you should use the c-stick: for example, you d-throw them and they either don't tech or tech in place, one of the best ways to punish and scoop them up is out of a short hop quickly fast fall and up-air at the same time using c-stick up

==

overall: work on being technically fluid. Be able to do exactly what you want in all situations. Predicting someone's movements then not punishing them because your tech skill sux is the worst

What about dropping uairs? As in like from a platform or something on an opponent who's on the ground. Is that preferable to other aerials in the same situation?

Claw would give you better tech skill. I would do it, but it would be horrendously uncomfortable.

You would just drop through the platform by pressing down, then up on the c-stick, and l cancel. But it depends
On what character you're playing against. For example, if you're playing a marth, it's probably better to just run away, because his up tilt has so much space control. Even another falcon has up air from below advantage. But sometimes if someone is on a platform with you, you can use the drop up air and combo them off stage into the KNEE.

Cool cOmbo on spacies: at like 40 or 50% if you have them grabbed on one of the side platforms on the inside ledge you can downthrow them... So if they DI in you can fall off and upair them dropzone style. Many times after this they will miss the tech and you get a free knee. Also if you know they're gone tech you can cover those options too :)

Edit: I'm pretty sure silentspectre was the first falcon i saw do this

Damn, that sounds like a fancy trick. I'll have to give that a shot. I guess mostly what I'm missing with my uair game is situational, more percentage-based ****, so that'll be useful. Thanks everybody for the suggestions.
