Im a new falcon and im trying to work on my shffling, anybody know which aerial would be best to practice shffling first? also, which is the most effective in an actual battle?

Ive practiced n-air shffling, but im not sure how the proper way to shffl this move is, since when i shffl it like a knee, it only gets the first kick in. Are you supposed to wait a little before the ff? or do you just use the full hop?

(P.S.) Does anybody know if there is any time differences between a solid, sweet-spot shffl'd knee, a non sweet-spot shffl'd knee, a shffl'd knee into a shielded opponent, and a completely missed knee? I can shffl knees fine when i practice and just knee the air, but when i hit opponents, i miss the l-cancel almost every single time.

For the n-air shffl on falcon, get it out as fast as you can after you jump, otherwise the second kick wont kick, and make sure to l cancel it.

I recommend practicing shffl upairs (using c-stick for the upair) first. Since it will help you get accustomed to using the c-stick much faster since it is a little tricky to shffl upairs with the analog stick. Since upairs are a big part of Falcon's game it should help. Don't practice this in practice mode, either play a lvl 1 comp or plug in another controller for a dummy human.

As for nair shffling, you can't fast fall immediately, you have to wait for the second kick before fast falling and l-canceling. And most of the time when you do the nair moving (i.e. from a dash) you have to dash sh nair, di backwards during nair, fastfall, l-cancel. This isn't always the case but it can get pretty tricky.

Now for the beauty of this game. Yes, there are time difference's between everything you say. The reason for the timing difference is the hit lag. When you hit a solid knee there are more freeze frames than there are with a weak knee so you have to wait slightly longer to fastfall. Same if you hit the shield, nothing, or an opponent. I recommend once you get comfortable shffling without hitting anything, to move up to playing lvl 1 cpus to get accustomed to the timing of hitting them. Shield's are slightly slower than actually hitting an opponent so you just have to wait a little longer than if you hit them.

I know it sounds like a lot, but the more you practice and play with the techniques the more these tactics will be reflex to do. Just takes practice and eventually most of this will be muscle memory.

ok ok, ive been bareley playin as falcon for a month and i know the best way to practice, no time limit, hyrule temple level 1 bowser. i think you should start with just short hopping, once you get that down, do a normal short hopped arial attack, then after you get that down add in the L-canceling, then once you get that bring in the fast falling. thats they way im doing it atleast. i find it easier then just trying to do it all at once.

oh sorry, if you have a second control just use it as a dummy, im an only child, i only have one conrtoller, so i go to hyrule so i can just avoid bowser to practice my shffling. i forgot i was giving advice for him, i was just saying what i do. my bad

Once you get the shffling down, you can pretty much shffl for all characters with a little tweaking of the timing.

If you have been playing falcon for only a month PLEASE don't say you know the "best way" of anything. You prefer to to do no time limit, hyrule temple, lvl 1 bowser, etc. You don't want to give people the wrong ideas by having them think it's the "best way". Others may prefer another tactic.

When I first picked up falcon I just liked to do:
no time, Final destination, Falcon vs lvl 1 Marth. Not because it is the best way. Simply because I felt his floatiness (and watching isai vs ken) made him good to practice shffl comboes. Bowser will work, as will most of the cast in one thing or another. When I learned shffling, short hops took up most of my time at first but fast falling and l-canceling happened at the same time.
