Those that do not know of Serebii would probably visit pokemon.com for info - meaning, that any Pokemon fan that doesn't know any other Pokemon fans who are actually into the games gets all of their news and updates from the official site, and are consequently about a year and a half behind everyone else.

I'm not so sure. Any major fan would search "pokemon" on google. Serebii is 6th from the top making it pretty obvious. I'm sure there are some people who haven't but the majority likely have. I think Pokemon.com is more of a site for people not that into pokemon. They check for some updates but they don't really care a lot.
