SHAD or SS? Which is better?

Short hop airdodge is good if you're trying to approach a projectile user. Plus you can DI it into the ground and buffer a roll or side step if you want.
Side steps are generally used defensively or as a fake out. It's easily punishable by multi-hit moves so I don't suggest you overuse it.

They're used in completely different situations so I don't think anyone can answer your question.

they each hace their own applications. i would suggest going out and playing more and testinf each out to see what fits your playstyle.

well, i understand now, i suppose... i was thinking of just using them the same way... but no... they're not the same and their applications differ a lot...
