Chaco, do we need an even amount of teams? Perhaps the empty slots could be just that, "empty slots" or byes I think they're called. Because a lot of teams will be left out if we go back to an 8 team bracket with 13 teams.

The problem with odd numbered teams is that you have byes in later rounds.

Personally, I don't see much of a point in meeting a deadline.

Don't see any way past the inadequate numbers; perhaps extend registration or drop the extra groups for an even 8.
