Hey guys, this was the only place I could think to ask this.

I haven't played a sapphire game I've had for a long time because I wanted to trade the current ones in there to it when I restart it (just got a used one from a friend). I finally got a cable cord and attached 2 sp's (with sapphire and leaf green) but it's not working

I go to the trade center in both of them and it saves, then just says
"Please wait....
B button: Cancel"

Does anyone know whats wrong? Shouldn't this be working?

Thanks a lot

if memory serves, on FR/LG, you must have done something on the islands before you can trade with Ruby and Sapphire.

I think you have to collect gems or something, but I dont remember the specifics.

You have to do the Ruby / Sapphire gem quest on the 7 islands. I believe you find one gem on 1 island and the other I'm not too sure where. I've only gotten one so far.

If memory serves me correct, questions like this belong in the Q/A thread which, in fact, is on the first page

1) Q&A thread

2) On leaf green on the Sevi Islands on Island 1 there is a guy that tells you to get two stones find them and voilà. If no voilà, then you may not have the National Dex on sappire.

Sorry, didn't know about the Q&A

ok so yesterday I went and gave the sapphire and ruby to celio and he says trading should be available now. but I have the same problem

It just says
"Please wait
....B button: cancel"

which makes me think its not the game, but the connection somewhere. I mean if it was the game wouldn't it say something like "unable to trade because _______"?

Thanks again, its really getting annoying

Like zrky said, make sure you have the national dex in sapphire.
That's the issue though. I'm pretty sure the only way to get the national dex in Sapphire and Ruby is to trade over a Pokemon that's not in the Hoenndex. There's no other way.

And if I'm wrong on that, then blame Serebii. <.<

@smasher: From the sounds of it, it's a connection issue of some sort. I've had an issue like that before, but I'm pretty sure we just gave up after so many tries because of it. I'm...guessing you're using a link cable (I don't remember Sapphire being able to use the wireless), so if I had to guess, that's your issue. The majority of the time it is.

I'm trying to find something to help you out (apart from just advising you to buy a new link cable), but I can't seem to find any sort of troubleshooting page about it. But I may just not be searching in the right places...I'll tell you if I find anything though.

Just to throw it out there, in all the games, or atleast 3rd gen and up (inluding leaf and fire), once you defeated the Elite Four the regional professor gives you the national dex.

Uhhh...actually...that's wrong. :\ The only game where you get the national dex right after you beat the Elite Four without any other requirements is in Emerald. In FR/LG, you have to beat the Elite Four and have 'obtained' 60 Pokemon, in D/P/Pt you have to have beaten the Elite Four and have seen every Pokemon within the Sinnoh Dex. As I am not usually one to start in on training up/catching all Pokemon until after I beat the Elite Four, I have had to do the added requirement in both games before I was able to get mine. The strategy for getting the dex in Sapphire/Ruby is here, and it doesn't even mention the Elite Four.

Thanks a lot. I think the problem is my friend gave me a gameboy color cable cord but according to my other friend even though it fits in the sp it won't work? Seems weird but I'm gonna got to GameStop and get a GBA one and see if that does the trick

Hm, I don't see it say "national pokedex" anywhere but my pokedex says I own 200+ pokemon so I guess I would have it right?

btw why would you not get more pokemon until after the elite four? It seems like in all the games before emerald and D/P/PT once your done the elite 4 your done with most of the games objectives/battles.

In the older ones I used to basically just fight the Elite Four over and over and over again with little care of the rest of the game, so that was actually how I did a lot of my training. :p I actually do a lot of wild Pokemon battles, though. Even in 4th gen, that's the main way I train. In games like Pokemon, I care little for the storyline/objectives and mainly just try and get rid of all of the different barriers and other such things that you encounter along your way in the game.

In case you didn't figure it out from what I just said, I hate restrictions of any type, even if they don't really seem to restrict. XD

lol in gold I just played the elite 4 over and over too and eventually got to like 250 hours but got bored. So your saying you just keep fighting wild battles over and over now? Seems like that would get really boring cause theres nothing your really trying to do (as in whats the point of just leveling them up if your not gonna use them for something and your done other stuff? plus if anything the elite 4 would level you up a lot faster)

oh and I went to GameStop and got the right cord, looks like its working so thats good....spend $5 though lol
