watermelon is INCREDIBLE. i fully endorse that stereotype. especially now that seedless watermelon is the standard.
i just bought some strawberries and blueberries today. i don't like blueberries, but they're SO ****ING GOOD FOR YOU that i'm going to learn to like them. and strawberries are incredible -- just expensive as ****.
blueberries were $4 for a little pack. four dollars! strawberries were $2 a pound. still outrageous, but eh.
some fruit salad is coming =)

Back in the day in Poland what my Dad and his friends would do on special occasions was get a watermelon, cut a hole in it, and fill it with vodka. Then you eat the watermelon and you get drunk from it.

i love how watermelon is 92% water. it makes it so easy to eat. so healthy. like, you feel so good about yourself as / after you're eating fruits. my body feels like it's floating or something. ****ing ****.

Monday- Friday like 8-4 at contra costa college.
We smash on weekends besides Friday sometimes, not usually though.
Edit: Finally? Most of us have existed for hella long, it's just the norcal smash scene is to the point where we really needed to make this thread.

lovage, pretty sure it's the stereotype because fried chicken and watermelon are very cheap. black people are poor, so we eat them in greater proportion to other meals because it's easy and convenient. fried chicken takes like no time to make, perfect for the mom coming home after working two jobs. toss in some mashed potatoes and kool aid, and voila.

I personally think watermelon is silly cheap for the amount of it you get.

It's days and days and having something that tastes amazing in your house.
This can also help you diet since food that is good for you doesn't usually taste all that good, but eating watermelon with it makes it work.

Watermelon isnt always cheap.
Fried chicken became a staple amongst black families because fried chicken was extracted from Scottish tradition (from Scottish slave masters). As slaves, black people added spices to "zaz" up the flavor of the chicken. Since slavery was very popular in America's south, it of course became a very "black"dish and at once took on the name of "Southern Fried Chicken."
Same thing could be said about watermelons, but one thing should be noted by them, they "originated" in Africa, and were considered an abundant delicacy.
