Untrue. Samus and Zamus completely outrange Olimar by a noticeable margin.Olimar has the best grab. Zamus has the most end lag. Range doesn't matter to me if it's super punishable. But uh yeah, mindgames can come from long grab reach... right?
It's still nice to know. The more things we find out about Samus' strengths, the better, right?I believe he was talking about how effective the grab actually is, not the range.
It's a weakness to have the longest grab range in the game?Really? I see it as a weakness. I'd rather have Falcon's crappy grab than this.
The grab is VERY laggy, so its not very good, plus she doesn't throw far. It would be a little different if she had ness' bthrow or something. Its far more useful in the air than on the ground. It's a weakness to have the longest grab range in the game?
Yes, since a whiffed grab, even a dash-grab, contains enough end-lag to get punished for it. That, and that lack of throw distance which was stated makes it a liability over any kind of advantage given from it's range. It's a weakness to have the longest grab range in the game?
I'm sorry, but that still doesn't tell me anything why range is a bad thing. O,oYes, since a whiffed grab, even a dash-grab, contains enough end-lag to get punished for it. That, and that lack of throw distance which was stated makes it a liability over any kind of advantage given from it's range.
Ergo, her grab sucks.
...What would work when now? Huh?I only see this working with the 4% zair. I don't know, maybe you could use it as a taunt and time it right so that the ending lag finishes as your opponent is charging at you.
How is this relevant? The hit stun from zair can combo into a buffered grab on the ground. However, the grab is shorter than zair so you'll have to hit with the dull zair rather than the sweetspotted zair in order to get in close enough for the grab.
Relevance: because the grab is long it can be used to grab opponents after Zair hits and sends them further away from you. This is one application for the grabs long range. Other than that I don't see much point in using the grab despite it's range. How is this relevant?
This was a notification that Samus' standing and dash grabs have the longest tether grab range in the entire game, not setups for grabs. <.<
I'm sorry, but that still doesn't tell me anything why range is a bad thing. O,o
Also, it seems like the dash-grab has pretty much the exact same tether distance as the standing grab, but is just a ton faster. The more you know, I guess.
This. Range isn't important. It's speed. No point in having Ike's giant fsmash if it comes out too slow. Samus' grapple is just too slow on the ground.I don't think he's saying that range is a bad thing. I believe he's just saying that if you miss a grab you can get severely punished which, and when your grab misses what's the point of having the range?
