Samus angled forward smashes

I have tried to angle her foward smashes with both C stick, and normal smash attack, but it only goes in the straight position. Samus can angle her forward tilts in all 3 directions though.

Hold down/up with your control stick and then do a cstick forward

In Brawl, c-sticking the Fsmash followed by immediately pressing up or down on the joystick would cause the smash attack to tilt the proper direction every time. I haven't been noticing any problems in p:m when performing Fsmash myself so I assume this input combination still works.
