SAMURAI CHAMPLOO FAN-FICTION
By FastLikeMe

The three travelers have come to the end of their journey and gone separate ways. Fuu met her father for the first time. Jin avenged an expert swordsman and gained true friends. Mugen beat some people up and learned to read.

Chapter 1- Episode 27
--------------------------------
Fuu returns to the tea house she used to work at, hoping it had been rebuilt and she would be offered her job back. To her disappointment, it is still in shambles. With nowhere else to go, she is hired at a local diner and paid poorly. Jin also returns to where he began, at Enshiro Mariya’s dojo. He finds three of the remaining five students he trained with living there. While they attack, he informs them of what happened, and how he made peace with the shogunate who ordered Enshiro’s betrayal. They believe him, and the four travel together to find the other two students still hunting for revenge. Mugen, with no one to provide for or keep him in check, resorts to his old habits. He takes a job to help an old couple harvest their crop, but while working through the night, he steals the entire wagon of food. Local authorities catch up to him, but before a fight can break out, Mugen fakes his death by pretending a bear mauls him in some bushes. When the authorities close in to ensure he is finished, Mugen springs from the bush and makes quick work of them.
He travels on to eat his food and sell whatever is left at an inflated price. Jin and his companions come to a competitor’s dojo, who, unlike their previous master, has been training his students for years unaffected by the government. Jin asks the sensei if he knows any students of Enshiro, and one student emerges from his ranks. He is very young, and does not remember who Jin is. After finding out from his peers it was Jin who killed Enshiro, the student, Kayuto, flees the dojo at night and Jin is left with no clues.
The girl who buys food for the diner gets kidnapped, so Fuu is responsible for buying a month’s worth of supplies. Many girls Fuu’s age have gotten kidnapped, and the village is on alert. Fuu goes to the town market, and is surprised to see Mugen among the vendors selling his goods. Mugen is surprised to see her as well, but refuses to lower his selling price for her. She gets angry, and buys her food from another farmer. She mentions it was probably Mugen who is stealing away all the girls. Word of this gets around, and Mugen is soon a wanted man in the village. Knowing how his reputation got leaked (though not disputing it), Mugen abducts Fuu and puts a price on her head. However, no one is willing to pay it, so the two must leave town together.

Chapter 2 - Episode 28
---------------------------------
Mugen and Fuu begin traveling towards the beaches of the Kansai Region to search for the stashed away treasure that was never recovered. Any happy sentiments of being reunited are quickly forgotten once they start bickering. Jin and his ensemble continue on, suspecting Kayuto might return to his hometown of Masai.
To reach the city, they must travel by boat, so they also proceed to the old beach. As Jin and his companions cross the water, Jin looks back and suspects he can see Mugen and Fuu on the beach. He dismisses the thought and advances forward. Mugen and Fuu navigate the beach on a raft, but they encounter three of Mukuro’s former henchmen who are also after the loot. The five form a shaky alliance, agreeing to split the treasure five ways. They form a search pattern, but no one trusts each other enough to let the others be alone. Adding to the problem, the government hasn’t given up on recovering the vast amount of money either.
Most of the group’s searching is done at night. Accidentally, the crew discovers a conspiracy to steal the treasure, which was found weeks earlier. A few government workers found it, and by splitting it into three shipments will send the gold to different ports to be picked up later. Mugen’s crew hijacks one of the shipments with over 200,000 Rio on it. Mukuro’s henchmen prove once again to be traitors. They tie Fuu to a heavy rock and toss her overboard. Mugen stalls for as long as he can, but eventually abandons the ship, jumping in the water to save Fuu. The two resurface to watch the gang sail off with the treasure. After swimming in to shore, Fuu doesn’t have a chance to thank Mugen for saving her life before he storms off, blaming her for costing him the money.
