Request Salty Runback (A+B) goes to a random stage instead?

Hello :). I'm curious if someone can make a code that when you do a salty runback, it will choose a random stage instead of going to the same stage again. I think this would be useful for people that want to play the same matchup but just on a different stage. Just thinking we can save the little amount of time spent going back to the css every single game because it adds up, especially if it takes a long time to load the css for some reason... Anything would be great, as long as you can skip the CSS and stage selection screen. Thanks for reading :).

It can help to have a "better" usb on wii if the loading is slow.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm actually aware of the code that skips the victory screen (I'm playing on 20XX not vanilla melee). I mainly want this code to save the amount of time it takes to load and choose at the character select screen and stage select screen...

My thoughts on the subject:

There was a code posted by Sham Rock a few years ago that would go to the SSS instead of the Results Screen after a match. If you combined this with the vanilla feature of having the stage selection set to "RANDOM", the game would automatically transition from one match to the next, and change stage if applicable. The code seemed to work 100% fine on Dolphin, but it was prone to softlocking the system on console after a varying number of matches, but not too many. I never found a cause for the problem, and the problem only existing on console made it VERY hard to debug (all my development is done in Dolphin). At that point, I concluded going straight from a match to the SSS is unstable.

Now, that was a few years ago and we know a lot more now and could probably make more headway on figuring out what the exact problem was, but it is also quite time consuming to go back and forth from computer to console to test code with a bug that you can't reliably reproduce. When time is a premium, it is easy to tell yourself "okay, I think it's good now", when the bug might have manifested itself if you had just played a few more matches.

This is the main reason why Endless Friendlies in the 20XX Hack Pack goes back to the CSS for a single frame before transition to the SSS. But I do like the idea of binding a button/button combo on match end to enable Endless Friendlies for the next match (the auto-transition/stage select), ignoring the optional random character selection.

Btw, I have Endless Friendlies working again in the next 20XX better than ever, and with the option for four random characters per player instead of 3.

Sweet I will definitely go dig up Sham Rock's code and see if it will at least work on Dolphin. Ultimately it would be great on console, but I didn't know it had that history with the softlocking.

Glad to hear endless friendlies will be back up and running, I've used that feature so much... Only suggestion I might have is to randomize the costume colors? I remember thinking I always got the same color over and over...

EDIT: I'm actually having a tough time finding Sham Rock's code... Are you sure it was written by Sham Rock?

You just have to change one of the lines from li r0,0 to li r0,1.

Skip Results Screen to SSS (1.2, Gecko)

Awesome works great so far! I haven't tested it on console yet but it should have softlocking problems? I remember on the Endless Friendlies feature on an earlier version of 20XX it would only skip the results screen if the game completely ended, not if you quit out manually. Is it possible to achieve this with this gecko code?

EDIT: Deleted a wall of text, I think it was a bit too much to ask...

The only reason I ask is because what I like about this code is that it's compatible with Jorgasm's Stock Control code (where you can control the amount of stocks you start with). I don't know if that's too much to ask or not but endless friendlies + stock control would be the dream. Thanks for helping me out btw...

EDIT: I think when the stock control code goes back to CSS is sets handicap/stocks back to 9 which is why it doesn't work with endless friendlies because of the 1 frame of CSS, but with the other code is bypasses CSS completely and goes straight to SSS so it keeps the same handicap/stock setting...

I guess what this has turned into is how to get stock control to be compatible with the already fully functional endless friendlies mode that you created...
In 4.05, the vanilla handicap feature is now stock control. You could also just go to the Player Flags Debug Menu and add a stock delta for a player.

And I'm not positive about the softlocking thing, but all I can say is that it was happening on my really old 20XX setup where I was trying to implement Endless Friendlies. I honestly forget the extent to which I tested solutions...this was like 2+ years ago.

I'd love to do that it's just that this code doesn't work in 4.05 version of 20XX it seems =/. Also I like the random character options in the previous version :).

What I'm trying to achieve is basically Old 20XX Endless Friendlies + Stock Control. Do you already have this on your latest build?

Oh, I forgot. Is Endless Friendlies totally broke in 4.05?

Use this with old 20XX Endless Friendlies.

Anyway, yeah, it's all fixed in the newest build but it's not ready for release yet. Slowly making progress here and there.

WORKS FLAWLESSLY.

Achilles will you have my children please?

EDIT: Will test on console soon.

EDIT 2: Ugh, I don't know why but I can't get any gecko codes to activate on my console with DIOS MIOS. I'm trying a bunch of different directories to put the .gct file. It's probably something dumb...

EDIT 3: Got cheat codes working, but that specific one isn't working? Stocks stay at 4? I can activate other cheats though so I know I have the correct directory. I changed the lowercase letters to capital will this change anything?

EDIT 4: Got it working. For any one who's reading this in the future, the way DIOS MIOS works (I think) is it checks the gameID (GALE01) then looks in USB:\games\GAMEID\gameid.gct for the cheat file. So if you have multiple ISOs of Melee (Old 20xx, New 20xx, etc.), you can only use one cheat file for all of them located in USB:\games\GALE01\GALE01.gct.

Oh, I forgot. Is Endless Friendlies totally broke in 4.05?
Nono, it works in 4.05, but stock control doesn't work with endless friendles, it goes back to the CSS and doesn't load the next stage...
