Hey everyone!

April isn't too far away, so it's time for the monthly rotating-game vote!

== What is this for in the first place? ==

We only have time for 3 brackets at SSF each week, but with Guilty Gear Strive and Smash Ultimate locked into the schedule we still have time for one more!

To figure out which game, we hold a vote each month and run the Top 2 games!
The winning games will be ran on alternating weeks (So the 1st week would be Strive, SSBU and one of the games - followed by Strive, SSBU, and the 2nd game the week after)

Note: If we don't end up having 4 events in a month things will change slightly, but the 1st place game will get priority

== How does the vote work? ==

We're using a weighted vote system - everyone is able to vote for up to 5 games they'd like to see at SSF, and every vote gives that game a certain number of points (higher-ranked or "closer to 1st choice" games get more points per vote)

== Also, we're opening up signups for the the pre-SSF Showmatches! ==

We're running Showmatches at the start of SSF now as a way to highlight games that we don't have time to fit into our schedule (...and maybe show people why they should vote for them in the rotation!)
If you have a game you'd like to showcase, please let us know on the form and we'll work with you to get something figured out!
(Also, if you have an opponent in mind already that makes things much easier for us!)

That's right, the weekend of April 22nd marks 9 Years since the first Salem Smashfests event!

To celebrate, we're going to be doing something a little different!
We're still working on the specifics, but what we know for sure is that we'll be running two days of tournaments (Saturday and Sunday)!
We'll be running some slightly different brackets than normal too - expect things like Waseda-Style Crew Battle Brackets, Squad-Strike/All-Star and Doubles, and other fun brackets like that!

Also, because it was such a close 3rd, we will be running a (normal) bracket for Under Night In-Birth EXE[clr] on Sunday, April 23rd alongside the Anniversary Event!

What are Waseda-Style Crews?

'Waseda' crews are ones where the player order is figured out first, and then everyone plays once - then the remaining winners fight, until only 1 team remains!

Registration for the SSF 9-Year Anniversary is basically full!
If you haven't signed up yet you can still fill the form out to be put on the waitlist - but also if you signed up and for whatever reason won't be able to make it after all, PLEASE let me know sooner rather than later!

Today is the first day of the 9-Year Anniversary Celebration - hard to believe it's already been 9 years!

I wanted to make sure to post a couple of quick reminders before today (and tomorrow), so please make sure you read this if you'll be showing up!

=== June 2023 Rotating Game Voting, Showmatch Nomination, & Feedback Form ===
Hey everyone!

June is coming up soon, so it's time for the monthly rotating-game vote!
This month also has a few Street Fighter 6 specific questions on it, so please make sure you fill it out if you're interested in that game!

== What is this for in the first place? ==

We only have time for 3 brackets at SSF each day, but alongside the 2 usual brackets we still have time for one more!

To figure out which game, we hold a vote each month and run the Top 2* games!
The winning games will be ran on alternating weeks (So the 1st week would be Strive, SSBU and one of the games - followed by Strive, SSBU, and the 2nd game the week after)

Note: If we don't end up having 4 events in a month things will change slightly, but the 1st place game will get priority

Things are still up in the air about Sundays going forward, so right now we're putting all the games on this list - we may be able to run on Sundays as well, but if that's the case we'll just pull more than just the top 2

== How does the vote work? ==

We're using a weighted vote system - everyone is able to vote for up to 5 games they'd like to see at SSF, and every vote gives that game a certain number of points (higher-ranked or "closer to 1st choice" games get more points per vote)

== Also, we're opening up signups for the the pre-SSF Showmatches! ==

We're running Showmatches at the start of SSF now as a way to highlight games that we don't have time to fit into our schedule (...and maybe show people why they should vote for them in the rotation!)
If you have a game you'd like to showcase, please let us know on the form and we'll work with you to get something figured out!
(Also, if you have an opponent in mind already that makes things much easier for us!)

I've had a few people ask about a Kickstart League (or something similar) for Street Fighter 6 when it releases, and while I think that sounds awesome I don't have the time(/energy) to run one

However, that doesn't mean a SF6KSL can't happen
If you would like to help run a Kickstart League for Street Fighter 6, please DM me!

We basically need people to Stream regularly and do the week-to-week TOing portion - I should be able to handle the Tech (layouts/stream setup, score tracking, etc) and Initial Signups, so it's 'just' the stuff after that that needs done

It's time to announce the schedule for June, and there are some significant changes this time!


First up, we got the go-ahead so we will be running Saturday and Sunday events regularly going forward!


Next, we have a few updates on some non-rotating games!

We'll start with the good news: Street Fighter 6 is joining the schedule, with a permanent slot on Saturday!
For June we'll be putting it at the 12:15pm slot (though please be aware that it may change times in future months depending on how things go)

Also, for this first week in particular we will be running Street Fighter 6 on BOTH Saturday and Sunday


Unfortunately on the less-great side, Smash Ultimate has been operating basically on life support recently at SSF - we had a few different carpools start having issues simultaneously, which seems to have brought the player count below a critical point
As such, we will be moving Smash Ultimate over to a rotating game for the moment - hopefully this will make it so that everyone can show up and have larger brackets on the weeks that they can make it!

Also, since Smash Ultimate was not put on this month's Voting List it will be filling one of the Rotating slots this month - please stop by on the 11th and 18th for this month's SSBU brackets!
