Rumor Patrol: Sonic Rumors, Again (Again)

After Sakurai’s revelation of the Subspace Emissary, one Sonic rumor has popped up over and over on our forums, based on a curious screenshot in the post:

Looks reasonable enough, right? It does look suspicious, but finding the truth requires a little bit more digging.<!--more-->

The problem here is that the original image isn’t the same as the one that this rumor uses in its magnified view. So while the blow-up shot is pretty incriminating, it’s not the real deal:

Close, but the close up in the rumor is obviously exaggerated compared to what the real thing looks like. Another day, another rumor vanquished.

and that rumor, it was pretty lame to start with. Only a non attentive buffoon could fall for that. Fortunately No one these blogs fell for it. At least I believe so.

Maybe she was watching that old cartoon where Sonic’s voice was done by Urkel.

Yeah, I went through the same check when I first saw this image. Little sneaky hints aren’t Nintendo’s style at all. Their style is to not say anything until they’re sure it’s about to be leaked anyway.

They’re style is also to disappoint us and say they didn’t. Watch, they’ll be like, “No, Smash Bros. IS online. Look, in Smashville, the game knows what time it is. How do it know? Internet clock. Suck on it.”

they are seriosly trying to convince us he in the game. well hes probably not gonna appear in the game if they keep spreading rumors like this.

I think it’s funny they have him in that Olympics game with Mario. Now we will know who is the fastest! No… the fastest biped on the planet IS faster than the pudgy Italian ******. No one disputes this.

While I would probably fall for it even it was a hoax, you gotta remember that Nintendo is the most sneaky S.O.Bs in the video game company.

You gotta love their hints and easter eggs ^^

It actually shows resemblance but no sonic info will be released untill nintendo wants it to be.

1: he uses some big wave attack like in sonic advance 3

2: he just becomes faster and stronger like bowser’s final smash

One reason sonic would be a good character is because of his moveset. He has spin dash, fire somersault, instashield, and sonic tornado for b attacks, he has sonic battle moves for A attacks, he has trick action (sonic advance 2) for airn dodges, and super sonic for a final smash. i believe sonic will be in brawl. I see to many reasons why he can’t not be in brawl. So he’ll be in brawl no matter how many times Ben says No to Sonic!!!!!

What I have against him is that he thinks he is better than Mario but he isn’t!!! Mario got his tornado move from Super Smash Bros.(N64) Sonic is fast, but not strong! And I already have played that game kirbykirbykirby. Sonic wouldn’t fit in Brawl well at all!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mario got the spin tornado move from mario advance. Clicking R on the snes pad makes him do a spin attack direvative.

Ben: Sonic doesn’t even know Mario exsist, the lame fan boys of sonic think he’s better than Mario. Please don’t get them mixed up. Yugi Naka even respects and somewhat idolizes Miyamoto. So Naka wouldn’t make Sonic disrespect Mario. That’s why they wanted Mario in The olympic game and that’s why Sonic will be in brawl.

Have you ever played any of the original Sega genesis sonic titles ( Sonic 2’s the best) You seem to be young and probably have only played or seen the latest games out. sonic’s not a bad character, he’s just been hor’d out to keep Sega alive. Please don’t be so narrowed minded to just see his hor’d out image.

Final note: super smash flash is lame and mario is no stronger than Sonic. Check out Super Mario bros Z. It sounds real corny but the flash is beyond well done. it’s not a waste of time. You can find it on Youtube.

Okay, some words

Ben - You are by far the first person I’VE heard that DOESN’T want sonic in Brawl out of SOOOO many others. Congrats, seriously. You just don’t know how much of a legend you are XD;;

Also, you gotta calm down a bit. Putting rants and words like ‘Sonic is not gonna be in brawl’ and such is gonna cause flame.

Also, Mario’s Tornado move didn’t come from SSB:64. He got it from Super Mario 64. It came from a previous game, just like SOOO many other moves of other characters. Did you know his up Up B was inspired by his first game (when he jumps or when he hits a box?) How about his double back flip? Inspired by Mario 3 when holding a power star.

I’ve already watched Super Mario bros. Z on Newgrounds. No, I’ve never played a Sonic game before because I hate Sonic. I’m 13. I have over 20 game systems. Sonic sucks!!!

fn Leon - remember, this is Ben’s opinon. Just because he doesn’t wanna see Sonic and Mario finally duke it out doesn’t make him any less of a gamer. Remember, it’s his opinon, not facts. I mean, the guy must have his reasons for not liking Sonic. Who are we to say otherwise?

That’s not a reason and if he hasn’t even played a sonic game then how is opinion valid.

It’s like me hating the whole mario series becuse the plumber wears blue overalls or Megaman because of the dumb box art on mega man I and II. I think ben got smacked with a sonic doll when he was a kid. I don’t mean to be mean to anyone but when you act arrogant and just send in endless amounts of whiny comments what do you expect, a kiss on the face and a golden plaque? Not here friend
