Rumor Patrol: Brawl's Gone Gold?

An interesting new rumor started <a href="http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=132599">floating around the Brawl rooms yesterday</a>. Thanks this simple picture of the Smash Bros logo, followed by NOW PRINTING, our assumption-filled audience assumes, and rightfully so, that it means that Brawl has gone gold.

For those of you that don’t know, the term “Going Gold” means that the game is done, and undergoing mass production. If the rumor is true, this confirms that there won’t be any more delays.

But how reliable is a simple picture?

The source of the image (thanks to <a href="http://smashboards.com/member.php?u=19326">Firestorm88</a>) is <a href="http://www.rakuten.co.jp/">http://www.rakuten.co.jp/</a>. Usually I can hop onto Japanese websites and tell what they’re about just by looking at the pictures–but this one’s got me stumped. I even tried to fumble around <a href="http://www.nintendo.co.jp/">www.nintendo.co.jp</a> to find the same image–no dice.

If there are any Japanese speakers out there, lend us a hand! If anyone can find the <em>official</em> source of this picture, then I think it’s safe to assume that Brawl’s gone gold. But until then, this is up in the air as a rumor. Sensible, but still unreliable.

You know, Mic or Misto. If you go on the Japanese site on the Dojo!! you can clearly see the notice saying more Japanese words and some dates to something, if you click on the last part, it will take you to this site with Super Mario Galaxy and ssbb. it has a new game cover which is very interesting since it has a different Garden like Background but with the same characters. Just pointing that out there.

The only true URL I could find was http://image.www.rakuten.co.jp/eve-ltd/

Which is probably where all the reporting sites got it from...

The website says absolutely nothing about the game's production status there. It looks like it's just a retail site hawking pre-orders. The sites that are labeled with that picture all give info about new or interesting aspects of the game that can all be found out by reading the Dojo. The providence of the picture is unproven, although it's nice to think that it's real.

Ummm... Do you mean the Nintendo webpage? There's nothing on Smash Brothers X there. There's a box for Mario Party 8 that almost fits the description you gave. Seriously, if you don't even know katakana, try not to navigate a Japanese website, you will only fail.

...WalMart sent her an email, stating the game was delayed until March in the US!!!

Thats a store-based delay.
Think about it: Most of the stores have a limit on what they can order, and the fact that probably a TON of Brawls were reserved this season will give most stores you go to a delay in when you get it.
Which is why people should think ahead, like I did, and pre-order in July.
I haven't gotten word on a delay or ANYTHING.

I think it's safe to assume that the rumor is true, with the boxart and Wi-Fi symbol now put on the site.

Well with the Japanese Dojo having the new Japanese Brawl Box ARt (changed, with PEACH IN IT), IT's CONFIRMED! Hopefully the North and South American edition has Sonic, Snake, and any other 3rd party characters on it. Since, they are the biggest part of the game IMO. >_<

I think Brawl deserves an E10 since Shadow could get away with D*** every other minute, guns, green blood, and a bunch of other stuff. Hell Brawl should have an E, I don't see any reason for it not to have an E rating, even T for Melee was kinda dumb since the DK rap was cleaned up...

Let's also not forget, Megaman's already been in several fighting games, and I can state from experience that in those games he fights nothing like Samus Aran does in Smash Brothers.

i found this, read it. its basically a Japanese guy who has experience with publishing Japanese games and basically says that "Now Printing" does not mean gone gold, it's one of those trick things that make you happy that it'll come out soon, even tho it might actually start printing in January. It also tells u that they won't have to delay it again, they say it earlier so u dont have to worry about delays.
